Would this have really saved time at the Airport?

About 2 weeks ago my Dad used his Aeroplan points and got us 3 tickets going from Toronto - Orlando. Anyway I was just looking at the 1st confirmation we printed off from the Aeroplan site and there was a section called Advanced Passenger Information. Now we did not notice it at the time but if we clicked on the link we could have entered our Passport information and I guess it would have saved us time at the Airport if we used Air Canada's express check-in kiosks, because I know when using them we needed to put our Passport numbers in. So I am wondering would that have saved anytime? I know December is a long time from now but we are planning to check-in online and we always get to the Airport early just incase, so does it not matter that we did not notice this at the time we made the reservations?

I think if you are travelling out of Toronto into a US destination, you have to line up no matter what, you can't use express check in kiosks.

It does save time for info being entered manually once you reach the AC front desk.

I remember when using the express check-in kiosks we did enter our Passport information along with where we would be staying and the only thing we had to line up for was getting our checked bags taged. So yes you are correct you still need to line up, although it's better then using the regular check-in line. Although I was reading something on the Air Canada website that said guests can now tag their own bags so I want to read more about that.

We did that with our flights in February and November and are doing it again in April and December. You still have to stand in line to get tags but you can use express checkout and not stand in the regular line at the Calgary airport. WAYYYY quicker!:thumbsup2

We used the online checkin to fly Calgary-Vancouver-Hawaii in December (don't know why we came back). We had to enter the passport information online at that time. So... you can do it now or at the point of checkin. The online checkin is pretty efficient and I'd really recommend it. My only complaint about it is that one can only start the process 24 hrs prior to the time that the final flight on your itinerary takes off. This makes no sense to me as the best seats (near front) are taken by those who don't need to rush to make the connections and those who need to connect onward are either forced to pay to book seats or keep their fingers crossed that they won't end up in the back row.

Thanks for posting that info. Since we plan to do the online check-in it will make things easier for us. As for the seats since we don't need to catch a connecting flight we won't worry about where we sit. In fact on our E-Ticket confirmation says what row we will be in.
