I went through the drive through at Sonic tonight and watched the girl who was making my strawberry limeade she stuck her hand in the container got out the lime, squished it into the cup, dropped the lime in, filled the cup and then turned around TOOK MY MONEY! There was another person in front of me so I know she took that money before she made my drink. I just thought it was icky!

Would this gross you out or am I being over sensitive?

I'm not sure.. I'm still jealous that you have a Sonic! (I love Sonic!)

OK, I'm no germaphobic, and I'm certainly not the cleanest person, but this is just YUCK!!! :crazy2:

Having worked with money and seeing how dirty the suds were when I washed my hands at the end of the day I would have to say I'd be REALLY grossed out!

:crazy2: ick :crazy2:
It wouldn't bother me...unless I saw it!
I try and not think about food before eating ::yes::

if she was sexy I would want to drink 2 of them

I love Sonic fountain drinks and shakes :drinking1 , but lately have been wondering about the kids they hire. Last time I was parked at our neighborhood Sonic, a couple boys who worked there, probably high school age, were sitting outside of the restaurant's back door, taking a break. They were cussing loudly, easily within hearing distance of the families who were having lunch in their cars. Would you have said something to management?

Between this instance the the OP's experience, do you think management should watch the kids more closely? Do more training? And while we are are on the subject, their commercials are just annoying. What's with the "Smacky" noise in every single ad??? Please make them stop!!

I see all sorts of food prep workers handle money AND food without washing. Sort of just goes with the business, but is very gross. Waitresses do it all the time.

One day the health department will crack down on this.

YES that would gross me out. My niece used to bus tables at a very swanky high end expensive restaurant. Some of the stories she told us were so gross. One time there was a piece of pie that all the wait staff kept dipping their fingers in -- she said someone ordered it, so they covered up all their finger hole with whip cream. They also used to recycle fries from other peoples plates. BLECK!!!!

Now I can only speak for the Sonic I work at, but like the OP described...it's a very common practice and my boss doesn't give a darn. He hires whoever he can because he knows they won't be staying long enough for him to give much of a darn about what they do. They are either fired for a minor offense within a month or so or they find a better job where they are treated better and paid more quickly.

I know at my Sonic (which I hate with an all-consuming passion at the moment), even though we are *supposed* to wash our hands every 20 min per corporate guidelines..that almost NEVER happens. Ever. They use the same knife to cut bananas with that they open boxes with. They let the collars for the cups (to make shakes) sit in gross water forever after being used. We can pass a health dept sanitation test, but it's really really nasty and I can't believe we always pass.   There are constantly bugs running around and sometimes we have clouds of gnats hovering over the bananas. Recently, we had an employee who had open sores on his hands and he stood at his register PICKING at them to make them bleed cuz he thought it was 'cool'. I told him he should probably be wearing gloves and he was like "Well *X* (the boss)said I didn't have to." I was so grossed out by that I almost got sick.

I've tried reporting my boss to corporate, but they've told me that since he is a franchisee and not technically part of Sonic, Inc, there's nothing they can do about his disgusting practices.

after hearing some of these stories Im thinking home cooked are sounding pretty darn right now
