Would this freak you out...

I would be scared also

Is your last name on your mail box or anywhere? People can find the last name in the phone book, then find the street they are on, call the number and see if you are home or not. I have a feeling they were seeing if you were home.

I would call the phone company and see if they can retrieve what number called you that night.

On that note, do you have caller ID?

I'd be a bit freaked out too, but it could really all be just a coincidence and nothing sinister at all.

This is why, esp late at night, I DO NOT answer the ph. without looking at the caller ID first.

Yup that would freak me out. Is it possible he chose the name Rick because when he did the reverse address search your DH's name came up with it? I know on Whitepages.com it gives the name that is listed at the address as well.

Yes...he could have, both our names our listed.

So, have you talked to the neighbor that called the police? I'd be interested in knowing what made them suspicious.

It seems odd to me that someone would be up at 2:30am and just happened to look out the window and saw someone they didn't know, then called 911. I'm not saying that's not what happened......just maybe they heard something instead, and called 911.

I'd be knocking on everyone's doors right now!!!

I haven't had a chance to talk to him yet. He is in his early 20's, stays up all night and sleep most the day. I'm going over there soon or atleast sending hubby over.

I would be scared also

Our name isn't on our mailbox. It was a cell phone number that was blocked - not sure what I can do on this???

When the guy called it was a blocked cell phone number that came up private. We have the home phone set to not accept someone blocking 'home' phone numbers, but, we can't do that with 'cell' phone numbers.

I'm really hoping its just a random thing & my family doesn't have anything to worry about, but, all roads lead back to 'something in my gut' says its not :scared:.

that would creep me out too. do you have a dog? I dated a cop who told me that's one of the best deterrents you can have. ( obviously not a teacup anything) Take a walk around the outside of your house and look at windows ( basement especially) and thing that someone could break easily and gain access to your home. What are the downfalls to having ADT??
This is going to keep me up tonight!

The thing w/ADT or any system is the home lines can be cut, it also takes it about 1 min to dial out (which would probably seem like a lifetime if someone was breaking in) & since we have never had to use it, I'm not sure if they send the police right away or if they make the 3 calls first, anyone know on this???

I'm going to call ADT to give them a heads up to make notes on our acct.

We have a full home security system (not ADT) and within 30 seconds after it goes off our phone is ringing. They have not called the police at this point, they ID themselves & ask if we need police. If we say no (we've never had to say yes!) they ask for our password, then ask us one more time if we need police. We've set our alarm off 3 times by accident in the 3 years we've had it. If you can't provide the password the police are called.

We have our account set up that if there is no answer at the house, or a busy signal (which you'd get either of if the lines had been cut, I'm assuming) the police are called immediately. Next in line is our cell number, then our emergency contacts (done after the police have been called).

ADT will call your home 1st. If you don't answer they call the police. If you do answer and want the police they will still call them. After the police are called they will call the emergency contact numbers you have on your account.

It's too bad the number didn't come up on caller ID. I would definitely pay the small fee to have my number unlisted.

It almost sounds like he was trying to find Naomi. It is strange that a person by that name lives on your street. Maybe he was calling you hoping that when he told you about the accident you would say that Naomi lives in the house down the street.

If he was trying to rob you, I don't think he would have continued the conversation. I think he would have hung up after being told he had the wrong number. It really sounds like he was trying to get information.

We have a security system. If it goes off, the security company calls us within one minute. If we don't answer the phone and tell them everything is ok and a code word, they dispatch the police.

If he calls you again, just tell him you are calling the police immediately. That ought to do it. Also, I would get your number unlisted.

oh my goodness - YEP! I'd be freaked out as well - sorry had to be honest. Sure glad someone noticed him walking the street...I think I'd ask the police to patrol the streets nightly for a while. I kow when I've been scared before they'll come by with their spotlights on & check a couple times during the night...

Glad your hubby was home!

The police could subpeona the cell phone carrier for the number. Talk to them and see if they will do it.

TC:cool1:

Maybe you could find out if there was truley an accident somewhere last night? :confused3
This was going to be my next thought. Does the real Naomi down the street have a son??

I was going to take a walk down to her house just to see. But, The Naomi he said he was looking for has never lived on our street, our street numbers don't go that high :confused3. Its like the white pages messed up or something :upsidedow.
I have no idea...so strange .
Add something else strange to all the coincidence (this is on a lighter note) I always sleep with a box fan for noise, last night I thought to myself...maybe I should turn the fan off so I can hear stuff. I decided against it since dh would be home, around 1 am I wake up with this awful burning smell, the motor on the fan had stopped and it was smoking and stinking :faint:.
I tell ya...your mind can play all sorts of tricks on you!! Of course know what I did for the next 2 hrs...laid in bed thinking :rolleyes2.
