Would this be too much "trouble?"

We are hitting up DS our first night there, but have no dining reservations for DS. I planned to just grab some QS or something while there and then head over to POFQ for beignets (which is a must do for us every trip). But, I am also intrigued by Olivia's at OKW. I've heard good things about it and would like to try their fried chicken. Do you think it sounds like too much trouble to boat to OKW from DS, eat dinner, boat back to DS, and then boat over to POFQ for beignets for dessert? I don't know why I am overthinking this so much lol. Is Olivia's even "that good" to where I should bother?

You can get way better fried chicken at Homecoming and it's super easy to get a walk up reservation, especially if you have 3 or less people in your party. I've done Olivia's and it's not worth heading over to OKW for if you are not staying there.

It would be too much trouble for me, especially when there are plenty of great counter service options at DS. But I’m happy with the fried chicken at Chicken Guy. :)

I do like Homecomin and that is an option too. We may still just stick to the QS plan though. I really like the chicken sandwich at Everglazed lol..

I'm going the other direction! We like Olivia's much better than the similar options at DS. It's a nice relaxing boat ride of about 20 minutes each way. The bigger pain might be the POFQ plans, where you need 2 boat rides to get there - perhaps chicken at OKW, then find a cab for the short ride to PO, have your dessert, and then boat back to DS. Olivia's is right at the main lobby for OKW - easy to grab a cab, and it would only be a few dollars to avoid the extra boat legs. Enjoy your time, whatever you decide!

This is also a good idea!

The beignets are non negotiable in this scenario lol.

i have similar things in my family structure that are 'non negotiable', as well! I understand completely!

If you have the time, I say do it! We always talk about going to Olivia’s, but we never make the time for it. I think since DS, OKW, and POFQ are in the same general area, this would be the time to try it.

Olivia's is super overrated. I have no idea what people are talking about when it comes to their fried chicken. It was a total let down.

HOMECOMIN' on the other hand...chef's kiss!

Don’t do it

I am going to have to eventually give HOMECOMIN another try, we went maybe 6 months or so after they opened at DS and have to say was not impressed with the food, not even the fried chicken...it was bland and greasy. Maybe we just hit a bad night because everyone raves about this place.

The best food at WDW is sitting at Disney Springs, IMO. I would not skip any of the great options there (including Homecoming, which is one of our frequent faves) to do a mediocre resort restaurant. We dine at Olivia's occasionally when we stay at OKW but it's not on our top 50 list, or worth a 20 minute boat ride.

I'd prefer a 20 min boat ride to no where over walking around DS. I'd have dinner at DS, then I'd take the boat ride (but not for the Fried Chicken) just to walk around OKW and then back to DS and over to POFQ for the Beignets.
In fact, I may now add that into my plans for September. We were already planning on Morimotos then POFQ for beignets. Much prefer the serenity of the boat ride than the chaos of DS crowds.

I think it would be fun. I'd rather take a 20 minute boat ride than walk around DS for 20 minutes. We've stayed at Old Key West and eaten at Olivia's and like it.

I second going to Homecomin or eating at one of the DS QS restaurants.
