One of my best friends was the lead singer in the Voices Of Liberty (he's now lead Dapper Dan) and he used to love to eat the fish n chips over there in the UK pavilion for his lunch. I personally have never tried them although tried most of the food at EPCOT. The R&C seems a bit hit and miss but think we might go for it this year.
If we want to catch Illuminations while eating what would be the best time to book? Do they have outdoor and indoor seating?
Anyone remember there used to be a cart outside the R&C selling Tizer cans and Ribena cartons?
you don't have to be there during illuminations...
as long as you eat dinner there, you can come back into the reserved area...
i didnt' know that, but the waiter told us...
we had really early dinner....at around 5 pm or something like that..
we came back at 8:30 and they let us into the viewing area..
it was THE best location i've ever had for seeing illuminations!!!
that was the first time we ate at R&C..
i'd seen good reviews on this board and since we had the dining plan i figured why not try it....
we ended up sitting outside.....and that was at 5 in the afternoon in august - as you can imagine it was deadly hot and humid..
my family thought i was crazy!!! (as did i, for that matter)..
but they didn't have a table for the 6 of us available inside, so outside it was..
it turned out to be the perfect spot....nice and shady....with a lovely view of the lake and all the countries..
and the service was fantastic....so friendly.....we were there at least 2 hours...
the server refilled our drinks at least 8 times....seriously....all those nice ice cold drinks were perfect after so many hours in the park on a hot hot hot day..
and we really enjoyed the food....i had salmon and thought it was really nicely done! i can't remember what i had for dessert, but i do remember enjoying it as well..
all in all it was a very very very pleasant break in our day....
the food, the atmosphere, the waiter....even the chef came out several times to chat with us...
initially because of a bit of a screw up on our pre-ordered food (for 3 of the people in our group of six)...and then after that he just kept coming out to chat....nicest guy you'd ever want to meet...
and he also took my complete list of ADRs that were left and made sure that all the pre-ordered food would be there for us!!! (up to that point, there had been a problem each time - not a problem that couldn't be solved...disney really doesn't know the word "no")..
anyway, it was a perfect perfect day...
and since then it has been one of our 4 favorite restaurants at WDW...
#1 is victoria and albert
#2 is Citrico (a two credit signature restaurant at the grand floridian)
#3 and #4 are equally good for us - Rose & Crown and Yak & Yeti
