Would the construction at CB stop you from booking there?

Hi everyone! We are booking a trip to Disney for our family of 5. Our kids ages would work really well for the main pool at CB. (zero entry for the little one but slides for the older one) Last (and only time) time we went, we stayed at POFQ. Now, we need the room for 5 but really do not want to jump the price too high. Would the construction be a major turn off for you at CB? I keep on thinking it cannot be that bad - it is Disney. Most of the day we plan to be at the parks except for maybe some pool time. Thoughts? Thanks so much!

We went to WL during part of their construction and had no problems. We are actually considering CBR this trip in April even though they will have construction.

Update. I just booked for our April trip. So no not fully discouraged.

We absolutely love CBR. It wouldn't deter us.

We're booked for June. Got an email about it. There giving a gift card to us for it. But kinda stinks. Hopefully a room discount comes out to make it better or something like the the values got with the free quick service meal a day.

I think this would put me off from staying there given I could make other choices where there won't be a big project going on.

Yes it would. I'm worried about my stay at CSR and that construction doesn't compare to the construction at CBR.

I booked it for November! We have four adult women going for F&W, so I am happy to take those gift cards and use them for the festival - it's $375 that I'd rather spend on food and drinks than a room that I'm barely in. I am certain Disney will have enough food and beverage choices around at the hotel because they are not going to want to lose any more money on this than they already are through all these gift cards they are giving out. Also, all the pools will be open, so if the construction is noisy at the main pool, we will just head to a quiet pool. We are not at the resort enough to let some construction bother us. Plus, CBR is huge so I would be surprised if anyone was bothered by the noise unless they are hanging out at the main pool.

The only way I'm giving up this reservation is if rental points be come available for OKW, because that would end up being even cheaper than this deal for me. But, I'm not holding breath for that.

I'd be fine with it. We stayed at WL during construction and didn't have any issues. My daughter also loved getting the free pins and that made it worthwhile to her...I'd have preferred gift cards lol

It would not be an issue for me. If just dh and I go we could just find somewhere else to eat. The gift card for just us two we could eat off if that. Also deciding to go there with kids would depend on their ages...you don't want fussy kids now a days no fussy adults either LOL.

Does everyone get the 75 gift card? I have a prefers room. But thinking of cutting trip short and downgrading to standard room. If I can get the same 75 a night would be decent savings. Or maybe just switch hotel. This stinks

I changed because of it. I love CBR, but the thought of seeing it all torn up was breaking my heart.

Since I made that decision, the info about the food court being closed has come out, and I'm very happy I changed because being gluten-free I don't know what kind of options I would have. So had I not changed before, once the lack of a food court was announced, I would have. My health is more important than a $75/night gift card.

I stayed at the poly and beach club both while they were under construction I had really no complaints maybe during the day a couple times I could hear what was happening, but it was not major and didn't affect my vacation at all. I sometimes enjoy staying at resorts while they are under construction because it sorta draws crowds away from the resort making it quieter and a very enjoyable experience

I booked us there because of the low rate which is even better with the gift cards. We will most likely add a few days at a deluxe as a split stay for some R&R after hitting the parks the first part of the trip.

We stayed at both Poly and GF during major construction and have stayed at other resorts during refurbs. We always place an "away from construction" request on our reservation and have never been disturbed. Yes, the construction at GF was pretty ugly (the beach pool had tarps up), but it wasn't loud and we still enjoyed it. If you think the amenities at the resort will suit your family even with the construction going on, I would try it.

But were their normal food courts and options all shut down?

Yes, they say they are going to have some kind of something, but as someone who has food special needs (gluten-free in my case - but if I had other food allergies I'd be just as concerned), I don't want to trust that some kind of satellite set-up will be able to accommodate that, and I don't want to have to always go somewhere else other than my resort to eat.

For some people it's not so much about the construction noise as the normal food operations which we know can handle food allergies is not in place.

We are going in August and we are staying at CB and we are not changing. We are hardly in our room and barely every eat at the resorts. As long as they have a drink station and the pools are open we are good

Yes. I wouldn't book at a resort that is having such extensive work done. They will be working all hours of the day so there wouldn't be quiet times during the day.

Food access is basically grab and go which I don't like most of the time, no shopping, a building near the front being torn down. Nope - Disney's gift card incentive isn't enough to get me to book there.

I love Wilderness Lodge and haven't been back there since they've been doing construction. Once it's done, I'll stay there again but until then I will stay someplace else.
