Hi,

I was wondering if anyone would mind telling me thier experiences and what they think of the following:
Cape May Clam Bake Dinner Buffet
Norway Princess DINNER

Also, we are 3 adults and 1 child under 3. We will be on DXDP. If we go to Beaches and Cream for a meal and order the Kitchen Sink as dessert for everyone (just have to see it!) will they allow it on the DXDP in place of 3 desserts? Looking at the menu, we can easily order 3 indvidual desserts that would cost the same or more than the kitchen sink.

Thanks!

We really enjoyed our Cape May dinner. There was a nice selection of everything, including soup and salad. There were plenty of peel n eat shrimp and mussels as well as a carving station and roast chicken for the non-seafood fans. I didn't feel it was so much a clam bake, but more of a decent buffet w/many choices that were hot and fresh. The desserts were pretty good too.

We are going to be "brave" and eat at Norway for dinner. We have had the breakfast there and it was good, and the princesses were excellent. We are going for dinner and hoping to meet Ariel. I am not afraid of the menu and the only sticking point is that my daughter will end up w/a $20 hot dog, but I am considering that an investment!!!!There is also a cold buffet there that could supplement if dinner is too unusual for the American palate.

Not sure about the Kitchen Sink....it is one of my little dreams for my family to share that for dinner one trip!!

We love Cape May, click on my Oct link for a ton of buffet pics and a full review

We had lunch in Norway last October and loved it! We had a 15 & 13 yr old that weren't real happy with the menu so our waiter suggested that they order off the children's menu. He said he would ask for a larger portion because the kids portions were small. My DD ordered the ravioli which was shaped like a Mickey head and her friend ordered pizza, they brought out 2 pizzas and doubled the ravioli portion. We were on the dinning plan and this was no problem, the waiter made it seem like a daily occurrence.

The rest of us ordered the Traditional Kjottkake. Imagine our surprise when we were served meatloaf and mashed potatoes! :rotfl2: It was delicious and if you think about what is described on the menu I would have realized it was meatloaf. We wanted something that was authentic Norway and Traditional Kjottkake sounds very authentic. The point to this rambling is that while the girls enjoyed their ravioli and pizza they would have also enjoyed the meat loaf but they were put of by the name! If they eat meatloaf at home they will eat it in Norway, it really was very tasty!

We are planning to eat at Cape May next week and have never had the Kitchen Sink so I can't comment on those.

I can only comment on Akershus as I haven't been to Cape May. We have eaten dinner here a few times we've enjoyed it. IMO, it is more about the princesses than the food - but the food was good, too.:thumbsup2

The dining room is attractive and sort of like a castle banquet hall. We've found the service to be friendly and efficient and we've had some very interesting conversations about our server's home country.:goodvibes

When you arrive you will take a picture with one of the princesses. This is for a complimentary (included with the meal price) picture package. All of your party may be in the picture or just the child. (Some of the little girls dress up in costume for this.)

After you are seated, you can eat from the koldtbord, which is really just a salad bar with a few Norwegian items added in. Your entree is ordered from the menu. Some people are afraid the food will be too "different" but don't be afraid to ask questions or to request a slight modification to an entree. Also, as mentioned, an adult may order from the children's menu and get a larger portion.

The yummy dessert plate is served for everyone at the table to share. Depending on how much you like dessert, sharing can be hard.:rolleyes1

During your meal, the princesses come around to each table to chat and pose for pictures.

We ate at Akershus last month. I was really nervous after reading all of the reviews. We actually enjoyed it. Both my kids DS (5) and DD (2 1/2) had the kids ravioli and meatballs. My DH had fish, he said it was good. I had the vegetable ravioli and thought it was very good. There was a lot of fresh fruit on the cold buffet.
We loved the princesses, each one really took their time at our table. No rushing.
Have a great vacation!

We haven't tried it but planning in our next trip. Thanks for the info, I'm looking forward to that.

Have a nice day. :)

Hi

We really enjoyed Cape May on our 2 visits - would go back again, but I do recall it being one of the most expensive buffets.

I'm sure I saw on the boards that you can get the kitchen sink, but it may be for 4 desserts not three. I'm sure they'd do a deal for you though if you ask....beg :)

We have eaten at Akershus several times for both lunch and dinner. We really like it there. I really like all of the fish on the cold bar (the rest of my family sticks with the cold cuts and salad). In recent years, I have really enjoyed the smoked BBQ pork and the smoked venison dishes that I have had. My husband really likes the Traditional Kjottkake (it is basically meatloaf.) I think that you would enjoy eating there - we do!

We're doing the Princess dinnner in 2 weeks, and Cape May for breakfast. I can't wait, as hese are two places we have not tried yet.
