In 2006 we plan to go to florida again, this time for 1 month in april we would like to do 3 weeks in a villa then a weeks cruise on the disney cruise. I dont seemto be able to find a way of booking a cruise without going into a disney hotel. Is there a way round this without going to different travel agents. I really am stuck dont know what to do any help will be appreciated.

Thankyou marv

You can try to book the trip seperately using DCL or your travel agent. I am not sure if you want to stay in Disney but wanted to have different hotel other than the land/sea package or staying off the Disney property.

You can book the cruise by itself. If you are looking to use the DCL buses to the port you will need to be certain locations for pickup. Otherwise you can stay anywhere and arrange for transpoert, limo, towncar or rent you own car and drop of near the port.

like to say that i live in Britian. Travel agents over here onlyseem to book you on a cruise if you stay in a disney hotel.

Go to DCl website and book directly. There are several other TA's that people use on the board who operate via internet. Dreams Unlimited (the sponsor)is one and allearsnet.com is another. Try them and see what you get.

As a former TA, you should have no problem finding one who will book you two separate components of your vacation. Why wouldn't they want to book you in whatever hotel you wished? You will just need to be specific that you do not want the "land/sea" package that is offered by Disney, and that you do not want a Disney property. There are hundreds (of not thousands) of lodging options in the Orlando area. If their concern is over the transportation, you can certainly book a town car for your own transfers quite easily and leave out that component altogether. Since you will be staying quite a long time, you may want to consider having your agent book you a rental car with Budget or one of the other companies offering a location near Port Canaveral. That way you could arrive in Orlando, rent your car, go to your villa/condo/hotel (whatever your lodging preference is), and when you check out, you could drive directly to the rental location at Cape Canaveral, drop off your car, and take the complimentary shuttle to the ship. After your cruise, you could take the Disney transfers one way back to the airport if you will be flying home the same day.

I have a feeling that the agents you have spoken with do not want to be bothered (or do not know how) to book a property other than Disney. It may take them more time and effort, but they should be able to do what you wish.

Good luck!

Hey Marv,

Disney has a UK website. The Cruise Line page can be found at:

http://www.disney.co.uk/usa-resorts/waltdisneyworld/IV/F/

If you click "Book A Trip" in the margin to the left (or the list at the top under Deck Plans) then "Book Online", it will take you to the main DCL web site at:

http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/dcl/en_US/reserve/reservation

You should be able to pay the deposit with a credit card from here.

Of course, you can call the main line here in the States at:

(800) 951-3532

Hope this helps!

The telephone number for Walt Disney World reservations seems to be:

0870 24 24 900

I bet they could help you find the right people to talk to as well.

Good Luck!
