Would like some clarity on the rental situation

So we needed to rent out some points this year due to some unpredictability of whether or not we could travel this year. I am obviously not a commercial renter as ive been on every single one of my reservations thus far and this is definitely not something I want to or intend to do regularly.

When I called Member Services to make the reservation and add my guests, they asked me whether this was for personal use only, because as you know reservations are for personal use only and occasional and not frequent renting , she said. I told her yes.

After the reservation was completed and names added, the CM asked me for whom this reservation was for. I told her I didnt know what she meant by this. She began badgering me asking me are these people your family? Or your friends? Who are they? I began to feel uncomfortable by this and quite frankly felt that was none of her business. Are we not allowed to occasionally rent as she had previously stated? Is this not our legal right under Florida law? I felt i was in a position of having to lie or risk having my reservation cancelled. I would like to be in compliance with the rules and the law without worrying. Now im being left feeling as if ive done something wrong and broke the rules and i am just confused.

So I would like some clarity on this so I could proceed accordingly, because I really didnt appreciate this interrogation if I am in my rights as I believe I am, to rent occasionally.
 
Was it a confirmed reservation?
Nope it was not and not at a time that was particularly hard to get or a highly sought after resort either. My compensation was also lower than probably what most people here would accept.

Oh ok, I was just checking to see if that was the reason you called MS instead of making the reservation online.
There was a guest change from the rental company so I had to call to change the names and so it doesnt surprise me that that set off some "suspicion." I should have been more clear about that on the post, that it wasnt a new reservation. For some reason, chat isnt showing up on my screen right now.

The problem is I didnt appreciate her just assuming that im some commercial renter without having looked at my history and questioning my integrity and making me feel bad. Unless renting is not allowed period, I dont see why she needs to know anything other than the names I want on the reservation.
 
I think i will because I still feel bad and I dont even know why 😆 I did nothing wrong.

There are others that have been treated this way. Maybe the email will get you clarification on the rules (unlikely) or maybe it will get them to at least address CM on what they are saying to members.

email and ask for clarity and let them know how you feel. I would also point out you are still in your cancel window for your direct purchase and you dont appreciate how you were treated. william.c.diercksen@disney.com

Apparently not 🤣🤣 Its a little ridiculous the tip toeing the members are forced to do around this issue. My response after a long pause was, "I dont feel comfortable discussing my personal relationships, however this is for what ive come to understand as Disney's definition of personal use, which is occasional renting.

Then I have to hear her repeat to me the same thing she already said about occasional renting. Then I have to be paranoid that something could happen to my reservation. An email expressing how ridiculous this is, is definetely in order.

Interesting fact. Emails were sent regarding the VGC refurb. Some said DVC wouldnt care. Well low and behold they cared enough that they put a full page spread in Disney Files about how they heard the members. But in the end even if they dont care why roll over and say nothing? If thats how you like to live your life more power to you.

I will add also some people told their guides they wouldnt be buying that oh so elusive VGC direct contract due to the refurb. They care.
