Well, it could be good and or bad. It's bad because they don't have anyting to open. If i was to get a younger child a gift card to anywhere I'd make sure i'll have something small to give her as a present to open.

I sent my G-kids Build a Bear gift cards........they had a great time picking out 'Dinosaurs' at DTD in fact they saved them for our trip.

We've aways done this for my grandson. Our son and family live in a very small home, our grandson is an only grandchild/great grandchild on both sides and gets tons of gifts. I just don't want to add to the clutter.

No, in fact for a 2 year old I wouldn't care if you sent a gift at all, just a birthday card with Elmo on it would be enough for them.

I give my nephews gift cards. My sister who has the 4 year old buys him all the newest toys. So we give him a savings bond. We also get him a musical card. He really loves musical cards and replays it again and again.

My other nephew will be 2 in Jan. I was just discussing presents with my other sister. She wants to keep him busy during the winter so we will pay for a session of Mommy and me at the local gymnastics studio. I plan on making up a gift card announcing it and putting it in a big box. He loves boxes.

I do gift cards for my grandson (just turned 3) because he really doesn't need anything. And he will get plenty of other gifts. His parents are having a tough time financially so the gift might go to buy something they all need - like groceries! He really doesn't know the difference and I figure my step daughter can decide what the household needs.

I also do gift cards for my youngest niece (also just turned 3). She has Angelman's Syndrome so mentally she hasn't really progressed much and has tons of toys in her box. Mostly because she still plays with toys that are appropriate for a one year old. So again I figure that her parents can choose something appropriate for her.
