Would it do any good to complain about Blizzard Beach closure?

I was so disappointed when I saw the news today that BB would close 3 weeks earlier than originally scheduled. I ordered my Water Park and More tickets recently from UT several weeks ago so that I would be able to make FP reservations at the 60 day mark. The tickets have been opened and linked to my account so they are not refundable. If I had known sooner that we would only be able to visit one waterpark I would not have added that option to our tickets. I feel like 50% of the value of that addition to my family's tickets (well maybe 33% if you add Disney Quest) has been taken from me.

I was considering sending an email complaining of the timing of the announcement, but not sure it would do any good. I would really like Disney to refund 50% of the add on fee, which is about $17 it appears for each of our tickets.

I would try at guest relations when you get there.

I would even--maybe--call and ask now? Not sure what they're able to do for you, but before you use your tickets you might want to know if they are able to give you any options.

Just go to TL twice. It's awesome. Still worth it. If this happened to us we'd go once at arrival day and once on down day. No different than having two waterparks.

Would a single-day WP ticket cost less than the add-on? If so, I'd ask (Disney, not UT) if they'd refund the add-on and let you buy a single day.

I personally do not think 2 days at TL equals one at each, as I enjoy BB much more.

I actually will be downgrading my water park and more pass due to Disney Quest closing. I just want to go to the water park, so I do think it's cheaper to buy just the one day pass to BB or TL. Sorry about BB being closed during your trip. We were contemplating two different times of the years to go and one reason we went with when we did was because TL was open and not closed during that time (that's the park we really want to go to as its beautiful!).

If you already have a park hopper, the WPF&M option is cheaper than a one-day water park ticket - $26, I believe. If you don't have a park hopper, then the one-day water park ticket is cheaper.

But is that $26 per day times however many days are on the hopper tickets, right? Because if it's just $26 total, even if you only do one WP, it's totally worth the money. But if your tickets are more than two days, then you're paying more than the cost of one WP single entry. (Hope I'm making sense here...??)

No, the $26 is a one - time fee on the whole ticket and covers as many days in the water parks as days on your base ticket.

You are not alone in your disappointment, I am beyond bummed. BB is my favorite park. I like TL also but not as much as BB. We will go to TL once but not twice, just as happy to stay at resort and swim. I will post after I speak to Guest Services.

Not likely, but that is the reason they keep one water park open, while the other goes under refit.

AKK

I completely understand refurbishments and the need for them to get done. But, in this case I feel Disney needed to have made the announcement of the change in refurbishment closure date with enough time prior to 45 days, so changes in tickets could be done prior to that time. By 45-52 days everyone is settled on what they are purchasing and they have paid off the balances.

My recommendation is that if you do not have a Hopper on your purchased ticket, to call Disney and see if they will change the WP&M option to Hopper. If you already had the hopper, then adding WP&M only adds $26, which is half of the gate cost for 1 water park entry and worth it.

I would say no! They always have the option of closing/refurbishing as needed with little warning. Closings will 'always' impact some guests as Disney never closes (only for weather) and they 'must' refurbish everything at some point!

You can try but I don't think it will help much. Closures for refurbs happen all the time, sometimes on short notice. Disney doesn't want to tie their own hands on mandating a certain notification window. Plus, if they give a discount or refund to you word will get out, like on threads like this, and everyone will ask. It used to be they might refund you if you were nice about it but the way information spreads now they, and every company, have to be more rigid with their rules.

It won't do any good. Things close for refurb all the time and sometimes with very little notice and people are always inconvenienced in some way. They won't do anything about it and definitely won't give you half the price of the addition back. You can take of the WP&M altogether or just keep it and go to the one waterpark.

The OP can't take it off, since she bought actual tickets already. If she had a package it would be a possibilty, but not without a package. (and she bought from UCT which makes it even less possible b/c UCT won't take back tickets if they are linked, and if they weren't link there would still be a restocking fee)

I have decided I am not going to call and ask for an adjustment. If I asked them to remove the water park portion, it would only be a savings of $55.38 for my DD and I. We will definitely go to TL once, maybe twice, but I am still so disappointed. DD and I are going with my lifelong friend who has never been and we had magical visions in our minds of this friend going down Summit Plummet for the first time. We will definitely make the best of our vacation - so blessed to be going!

That was my thought, since they were bought from UCT, I don't think Disney would change anything over the phone. Maybe in person.

You can swim with the fishes at TL. And do the wave pool versus the bobbing pool.
