Would it be wrong to do this?

I have booked a MYW package with free dining for the last week of September. I booked the 7 day package including 7 day parkhopper tickets for myself, DH, DD17 and DS6. Now my DD has decided she does not want to stay down there that long (Homecoming Dance, Graduation Exams, boyfriends birthday and a whole list of excuses...) . She wants to drive down over the weekend and then return home on Monday. She would pay for her 2 days park admission seperately and we would save her park hopper pass for the next trip to WDW. I am assuming that we will be alloted her dining credits for the length of stay since that is how the package was booked. Am I correct on this? Would it be wrong of us to use her dining credits? I would really like to take DS to Hoop Dee Doo, if we could still get in, but wouldn't have enough credits unless we use DD's. Any and all opinions are welcome. Thanks.

I'm sure some would disagree, but I say go for it. ;) You made the ressie in good faith, you were not trying to rip off the system and you would have to cancel your whole ressie if you took her off as all parties must have same package.

That said, some are reporting all must be present at check-in. Will she be there for the begining of the trip?

Enjoy!

I personally think it's OK since you've paid for the package. I believe you will need to have a no expiration option on her park tickets in order for this to work...which means you'd have to have that on all your tickets because the whole party needs to have the same options. Is that right? So, unless you have the no expiration option already it'll cost you a couple hundred bucks to pull it off and have her ticket remain valid.

As long as the ticket is not used then I don't believe non-expiration is necessary. Its good for 14 days from the first day it is used. Her DD will be purchasing separate tickets for her two day stay.

I personally think it would be fine to use her credits. However, if Disney follows through on requiring all people in th e party to be present at check in you could have a problem

I say go ahead. It is just a total amount of credits and can be used by anyone. My step son cancelled but we are keeping his credits as it is just part of the total we can use.

DD will not be there until the day after we check in, so I hope there won't be a fuss. She will still be staying in the room and we have purchased a ticket with the same options as ours. We just don't intend to use that ticket. I know there is no way that we could use all of her credits. DS and I are not big eaters and probably won't' even use all of our credits but it would be nice to have another character meal for DS and maybe some of the snack credits for drinks and stuff. She really made me angry pulling this on me with only 18 days left but I am trying to find the positive side and dwell on it instead.

The free dining is a bit different however. The reports on the boards indicate that everyone has to be accounted for at check-in. If she is there for check-in and gets the pass with the family, the credits should be allotted to the family.

But, it will depend. I wouldn't take anyone's word here as to allowability. You will just have to see how it plays out while you are there.

I stand corrected! :thumbsup2

We arrived on the 24th of August for a 10 day stay with Free Dining and just two of us (out of a group of 7) went up to the check in line--the rest stayed in the kid area watching TV. They never asked to see the rest or our party or even asked if they were there. Not sure if this is everyones experience but this was ours. So you may be ok...maybe just you go to check in desk and have DH and DS in the kid area so it is not obvious that DD is not right there?

Correct.

Disney is very confusing isn't it. I never know for sure if I've understood all of the different parts of a program or not - LOL

The reasoning for having all members present @ checkin was to avoid the practice of phantom children being claimed on a ressie just for the extra dining credits during "free" dining.

There were even reports of people booking an AS room & staying elsewhere just for the DP credits:confused3

I don't think it's a problem, Go for it :thumbsup2

As far as saying you are staying somewhere you are not staying to get dining credits..... I wouldn't even think about that let alone attempt it.... ppl have way to much time on their hands and they are super cheap too :sad2:

I think there is certainly nothing wrong with what you want to do. You're planning on paying for DD's credits for the entire time and don't want them to go to waste, so you're planning on using them for people already enrolled in the dining plan. I see no problem with that.

As far as actually doing it, that may depend on what you run into at checkin.

When we checked in in May (at OKW) I had to physically produce DW and DD, and DW had to show photo ID for us to pay for our dining plan. I've heard that people have been allowed to show up at the desk up to 12 hours later to get on the dining plan due to relatives coming in at different times, etc.

But, from your post, I think it's quite clear that you are not trying to get away with something, and I suspect if you just explain the situation to the front desk CMs, you'll have no problem.

For the original poster.

The credits are yours. You paid dearly for them and should use them as you see fit. You're not trying to rip-off Disney. They have earned their profit, so I say "go for it".

Enjoy your stay.

She is getting the free dining plan.

We're booked for FDP at POR for 6 nights.

At one point it was girls' only trip me & DD, and I wanted to bring along my GF and her DD. GF said she could get off from work some of the week, but not all.

I called WDW with these scenarios to get pricing for GF if I added her and her DD.

The prices to add them on was VERY reasonable.

However, I was told several times by a couple of CM's that during FDP, all must be present at check in to avoid "phantom guests", where everyone was paid up and on the ressie, but some would be "missing" in order for the remaining guests to take advantage of more 2 credit TS.

As it happened, I ended up adding DS(14) and paying $262.11 for him which is more than worth it for just FOOD for him!!!;)

Seems your DD will be a phantom, be real, then turn into a phantom again. You better run this one past Disney, or else just "see what happens":confused3

You're not trying to use child meal entitlements for adult meals, so I don't see the big problem. As long as you can show she's "real" and not a phantom, you should be okay.

I am honestly astounded that people think this would be fine. OP, I know you are not trying to scam the system or anything like that but really how is this different from people adding extra guests to get the dining and just buying some extra tickets?

Her DD is going to be there for a short period. OP then will be using free dining credits for a guest who has checked out, tho, after her daughter leaves.

That's why she'd best ask...:confused3
