Would it be worth it?

We are going to Orlando in October and thinking about WDW. Just wondering if we would like Universal. It's me and DH and DS8 and DS13. None of us like fast rides. I thought I was going to throw up on Thunder Mtn Railroad when I tried it the first time on our last trip. Would Universal be worth the money for a family like ours? Just pricing the difference.

I'm the biggest ride chicken there is. Having said that I rode everything at Universal (did the stationary seats in Jimmy Neutron - simulator ride) and in IOA I only skipped Hulk, Dr. Doom's Fearfall, Dueling Dragons and the spinning things next to Hulk - I can't remember the name of the ride, but its like the teacups. I also closed my eyes on the "down" part of Spiderman (another simulator ride). IMO Spiderman and The Mummy are the two best rides in Orlando. The shows were great and I loved the theming of the parks. We had a great time there and will definitely go back.

On another note, if riding rides makes you nauseaus (sp) try taking some kind of seasick medication. I like Bonine as its one pill every 24 hours. I take it at night before I go to bed and I'm fine on all the rides the next day. Dramamine works well too, but makes me really sleepy.

Anyway...I think you would enjoy Universal and there is plenty to do at both parks for folks like yourselves. Universal is a much slower paced environment than Disney so you don't have to plan like a manic. Just go and have a good time.

Thanks everyone. I will discuss with DH tonight. I came up with some ball park prices earlier whe I should've been working and it comes to about the same that WDW would come up to.

If you can swing it, try to stay onsite at Universal. You will love it!

The only ride I did in Universal was The Simpsons ride and we managed to spend two entire days there with a third day for IOA.

For shows, we saw Beetlejuice, Horror MakeUp, Animal Actors, Barney, Shriek and Donkey ride but I think it was a show and Fear Factor. I did go on Jaws but I wouldn't really consider that a ride and Twister. We somehow missed Disaster. Of course, the kids spent a lot of time getting autographs and playing in the water areas.

For IOA, I went on all the rides at Seuss Landing (Trolley, Cat in the Hat and carousel). My husband and son went on the rollar coasters but it's a beautiful park to just relax and photograph your family.

I say go. It was so inexpensive compared with Disney.
