...should we skip Tarzan Rocks or Lion King?
Myself, DH DD 3, DD 1 ½ & Friends~DW, DH, DD 3 ½, DS 2

We have only seen Lion King before (loved it!) & friends first time ever.
Thanks again, I think this is my last AK? until I post our plan!:Pinkbounc

All 3 shows are very different. Lion King is by far my favourite (as well as many others). Pocahontas is geared towards children. There's only one song. Children get to sit in the front rows if desired and they get to see the animals (real) up close. Tarzan is a rock & roll show with rollerblading and LOUD music. I've seen young children crying due to the volume here. Basically, it depends on what your family's interests are. We saw Pocahontas once and felt that was enough. However, we continue to see Lion King over and over again and see Tarzan if the schedule allows. HTH! :)

Given the ages of the kids, I would skip Tarzan Rocks and go to Pochahontas and Festival of the Lion King.

Tarzan Rocks, as mentioned by the previous poster, is really, really loud! Also, it's almost more like a rock concert than a show. The rollerbladers and the aerial ballet are cool, but other wise I was kind of bored. I think kids that young might be more fascinated by the animals and the softer tone of the Pochahontas show.

Just my 2 cents--hope you have a great time!

Definitely don't skip Festival of the Lion King. If you have to skip one choose between Tarzan and Pochahontas. With that being said... our DS3 was extemely bored with Pochahontas. We didn't do Tarzan because of the noise. But if we were to do it over, I might take our chances w/ Tarzan over Pochahontas. But that all depends on your children. If they are really into animals do Pochahontas, but be sure to get there early enough to get them up front. (I wouldn't wait in line too long for this show) Have fun whatever you decide to do!

Absolutely. Lion King is a must do for first timers -- and repeat visitors! The other 2 shows will not even come close to Lion King.

Pocahontas is very mild - not too interesting for adults, but cute for little ones. The first few benches up front are reserved for children only.

Tarzan - the music is good, (and loud) and the entertainment is ok, but it was not a favorite. Unless the little ones love Tarzan or are intrigued by things like skateboarding, I'd stick with Pocahontas.

Hope that helps!

Pocahontas is to TLK and Tarzan as children's theatre is to Broadway. They aren't even on the same level.

Pocahontas is very cute for little ones and much tamer if they aren't big on shows. It's only 13 minutes. You can even do all three if you wish. Just look at the time guides as you enter the park.

Pocahontas is really best for anyone who's either a huge fan of the character (and I saw a surprising number of little Pocas when I worked there), or if you are someone like me who likes to experience everything at WDW at least once. Honestly, I think the training sessions are more interesting. They do two of those early in the day. They aren't well publicised, and you get to watch how the animals learn what to do.

We are definately in the minority here....Tarzan Rocks! is my DS's favorite AK show. It has been since he was 17 months and he is now 5. He is mesmerized by all that is going on around him and loves the music. DS (10 months) loved it last year, as well.

I guess it just really depends on the interests of the children. Whatever you choose, I am sure they will have fun!

My 2 year old (now 4) LOVED Tarzan Rocks...

of course our children are strange...the oldest one used to be-bop when one of those "special" cars pulls up at a traffic light blaring RAP music and the other one jams when she hears heavy metal. Not there true music tastes--but it is funny to see them get down and get funky.

I thougth Pochohantas was cheesy--our family enjoys the animals show with the birds--aaack, can't remember the name.

Pochohantas seemed too cheesy and the theater is small. Felt like watching a melodrama, IMHO.

However, for Tarzan--if your children are upset by LOUD music and risky performances (skaters doing aerials and such)...then you may want to skip it. Disney is no fun with upset munchkins.

Festival of the Lion King is a NO MISS SHOW...get there early as they do little activities with the kiddos and let them do a little parade before the show starts. And at one point during the show, children are hand-picked to participate...sit on the end of the bleachers for better spotting--works for older kiddos--but my 3yo at the time (the now 4 year old) was picked b/c an older child was too shy.

another vote for the "Bird" show over Pocahontas--or Tarzan;

it's our favorite show at AKL
