Would it be a good idea to request the 6th floor when staying at the AKL concierge???

I've heard people have been placed on the 5th floor and had to go up one floor to use the lounge. We don't want to do this. Would it be a good idea to request the 6th floor? Or shouldn't we worry about it?

we've stayed AKL concierge twice and always been on the 5th floor.

honestly - the view of the animals is better from the 5th floor if you have a savannah view (less tree obstruction). it really isn't that big of a deal being a floor lower in my opinion.

Are the rooms the same size between the 2 floors? When you wanted to get to the 6th floor did you have to use your elevator key each time?

yes - the rooms on the 5th and 6th floor are the same size.

"Floors 5-6 have Deluxe rooms. Concierge rooms are the same as the Deluxe rooms. These have one of 2 views: Pool or Savannah. The rooms can be configured as either 2 Queens; 1 Queen and Bunk Beds; King Bed and Daybed; Handicapped Accessible with King Bed and Daybed. The 6th Floor is exclusively Concierge.

there are stairs that allow you to enter the rear of the concierge lounge that are key coded you can use...or the elevators and yes you have to use your key card to access it.

When we stayed at AKL concierge in March, we did the Sunset Safari. As we rode near the hotel, the other couple on the tour pointed out their 6th floor room. The said the view was not good and they saw more of the roof then they did the grounds of the resort.

We stayed on the 5th floor and were very pleased. We didn't go to the lounge very much. Maybe we would have gone more often if we had been on the 6th floor, but I am glad we were on the 5th.

I wanted the 6th floor, but there are only about 10-12 of them up there. We got the 5th floor instead. The view of the animals was good, but it was a long walk down the hallway. Since I don't really care all the much about looking at the animals, I would still prefer the 6th floor!!

There aren't many rooms on the 6th floor, with half of them being smoking optional rooms which face the pool. The remaining rooms do have a savannah view, but the view is slightly obstructed by roofs. We stayed on the 5th floor, and while it was a walk to the lounge, I much preferred it over having either an obstructed savannah view or a smoking optional pool view room. You'll have to weigh what is more important to you, being close to the lounge, or having a less than steller view (which is my opinion).

we have stayed there 3 times CL and all 3 prefer 5th near Arusha Rock. Great rooms, view, etc... 6th is not good views.

Is it possible to get concierge priviledges, but stay on a lower floor? We really liked the view from the third floor on our last visit. Going up to the 5th just seemed too high up for good viewing. Having to be so high up is what kept me from even considering concierge this trip.

Yes, it can be done. I've made the same request in the past and the concierge staff graciously gave me the room in the location/floor I preferred *way out on the ends, fourth floor*. During Easter I was on the fifth floor, but still out of the concierge area as I wanted further out. My last trip was a two bedroom suite *very nice!* I have to say it was my very favorite, but I don't see it happening again in the near future!

In my opinion when we did AKL concierge about 3 yrs ago 5th floor was very obstructed. When I made this current resv I requested 4th floor. I was advised from AKL concierge that concierge was 5th and 6th floor. I personally want the lower floors. I would prefer the lower floors but ha most of the time we are there we will be in the parks anyway.
