Would it be a crime to skip MNSSHP?

My family has done it twice. We skipped it when were there last September because it seemed not worth it. The second time at MNSSHP was much more crowded (which I don't blame Disney for), had fewer features, and was generally not as festive as the first time we did it. While I continue to enjoy WDW vacations I doubt I'd pay for a party again

We've never done this; we've only done the Christmas. We have a Sunday night opp to do it with our 5yo. We are only doing MK once before doing DCL. We can do the party after cruise.

Do you all recommend it? Are there a lot of folks including parents who DON'T dress up? Does it open at 4 pm like Christmas? Any comments are helpful.
