Would I have enough time to get to Spirit of Aloha?

We are scheduled to fly in and arrive at 2:20 p.m.

I figure we will be able to leave the airport by 3 and arrive at All Star Sports by 4.

We currently have 8:15 ADRs for The Spirit of Aloha, but I'm wondering if I should move it up to the 5:15 p.m. show. I'm really concerned about not getting the youngest into bed at a good hour in prep for the next day in the parks.

Do you think we have enough time to get there?

Does anyone know how long of a show it is?

The show is a few minutes shy of 2 hours. Making it to the 5:15 show will be a close call. Immediately after checking in you would need to get on the bus for MK then take the monorail to the Polynesian.

IMHO, I wouldn't do this on your first night. If your flight is delayed and you don't make it, you will be out the full price of those tickets. Using Disney transportation, I would say there is no way you would make a 5:15 pm show. You will be creating an exceptionally stressful day for yourself.

The show is about 2 hours, so with an 8:15 pm show, you will probably get back to your resort around 11 - 11:30 pm, unless you took a cab.

Can you do it another night?

I would not do that. What if your flight is delayed and you miss the show? You will be out a lot of money.

I wouldn't book any prepaid reservations for arrival night, but 5:15 is definitely pushing it.

If you really want to see it on arrival night, keep the 8:15, but keep in mind that if something happens and you miss it, you lose all of that money.

I agree with the above, that is a lot of money to be out. I would save it for another day.

Not sure how long your flight is, but my DD(6) is restless after traveling and it would be hard to get her to sit still for a 2 hour show.

There's no way I'd make the reservation for 5:15pm. I'd be stressing the whole trip down. 8:15pm is doable as long as there aren't any major delays.

I'm just thinking of the delays I encountered this weekend. Friday, a garbage truck on fire on I-4 had traffic stopped or snail paced near Disney. Sunday afternoon another car fire produced another major delay. In both cases traffic traveling either direction was affected.

As mentioned above, what if there's a flight delay?

At least with the 8:15pm you are giving yourself more wiggle room. Though you are still taking chances.

Uber or another service like that or a taxi are your fastest way to get to the Poly. Allow 90 minutes if using Disney's transportation. So another thing to consider with your children and a late night is travel time back to All Stars.

On our very first family trip to Disney we had this same show booked for the night we arrived. We drove and due to weather and traffic and about 800 other things out of our control, we were hours behind schedule. When I realized our chances of making it on time were slim to none I called and tried to cancel and was told nope. We either had to show up or be charged full price, no exceptions. We did wind up making it about halfway through the show. We missed most of dinner and it was a very stressful way to start a vacation. It's one thing to make a table service reservation and get charged the per person fee if you don't show up, it's another to shell out hundreds of dollars for a dinner show you don't even get to see. I would not book it for your arrival night. So much can happen that you can't control when it comes to travel.

All good thoughts. Thanks so much for the replies. I feel pretty safe with our flight. It's the very first one out of our city and it's a straight shot - no connections. However knowing there are other variables, then ya I'll keep the 8:15.

So I can use Uber at Disney? Is that trustworthy? Do you know the approx. cost?

Thanks again!

I'm local and never had need to use Uber. But there is this thread that might help you http://www.disboards.com/threads/everthing-you-wanted-to-know-about-uber-lyft-at-wdw.3443634/ @Missyrose has used Uber.
