We will be in the world from 6/28-7/4. We want to see the MK fireworks on 7/3 because we leave early 7/4 to go to the coast for a few beach days.

This is our 7th trip as a family and so we are planning to be less park focused and want to do new experiences in tours and dining. I was able to score the Pirates and Pals Cruise for 7/3 which I was very excited about so we wouldn't have to deal with the crowds to see the fireworks. However, we did the cruise last summer. Though it was great I'm torn about whether we should throw our $275 towards something we haven't done.

Options we would do instead are Hoop Dee Doo, Family Magic and Behind the Seeds tours, or a dessert party (either star wars if available or illuminations) We haven't done any of these options.

Thoughts? Would I be silly to give up the cruise on a night when they'll show the 4th of July fireworks???

How into it is your group? My kids LOVED the cruise! It was definitely their favorite Disney moment. I'd keep it just to see the firework away from the park crowds.

My thinking is, if you're not excited about it try something else (but I would book the something else before cancelling :magnify:).

We did Pirates and Pals a year ago and it was a huge highlight for my kids. It ought to be very special with those fireworks too. I think I'd be willing to pay a premium to see them in such a pleasant atmosphere. If the money is not an issue, I doubt you will regret the experience.

I would keep the tickets and if you do cancel, make sure you are VERY sure, because that is going to be very difficult if not impossible to get enough tickets to go again. I would rather do the cruise than any of the things you mentioned and they will all be available to do almost every day of the year, whereas a cruise for a special fireworks show that's shown 2 nights a year is a much harder experience to do later.

I personally wouldn't give it up if you want to see the fireworks without the crowds. Because if you watch them from the MK or any of the surrounding resorts, there will be crowds.
