Would Disney ever replace Indiana Jones Show with Indiana Jones Ride?

I don't beleive the Tokyo one is based on the movie. It opened 7 years before hte movie came out. Think jsut happened to both have CS in the title. And if they did open a clone of IJ at Hollywood Studios then I'd be fine with them closing Dinosaur since there is still the ride one property, however I don't see Disney doing that as there is nothing wrong with Dinosaur (and AK needs the rides as there isn't a ton).
But if they did take it out they could retheme all of Dinoland into a new area with new rides and exhibits. I do think that Dinoland is fine as a mini-land. Can keept eh Corcodiles and stuff and teach about prehistoric animals. But don't think it needs all of the space that it currently takes up. Liek to see Dinorama taking down as it is so cheap and crappy looking for a Disney park. Then use the space there and the Nemo theatre for a new land themed around South America/Rainforest or Australia. Nemo would go wherever Australia ends up in a new theatre themed to Sydney Opera House.

I googled it and you're right. Wikipedia says no relation. Super weird. It definitely gave me flashbacks to the terrible movie that came later. I did wonder why the aliens never made an appearance, though:rotfl:and a few other inconsistencies but I figured it was just bad memory. (it's been a long time since I saw that movie and it's the only Harrison ford movie I've seen only once, it's THAT BAD).

I love the idea of Dino land- the gift shop is really cool. And I feel like it's a shoe in for both AK and Disney in general. Kids like dinosaurs. Adults like dinosaurs. There's a TON of stuff you can do with that theme.
I just think about half of it is utter crap, like the diorama you mentioned.

I love the Indy franchise and can still repeatedly watch them. When I'm home working or doing some kind of project and I want a familiar movie on in the background that I know by heart, I almost always pick an Indiana Jones movie. My kids are still a little young to "get" them but I think they are something they'll enjoy. I would love to see Indiana more represented at DHS... whether that is updating the show (maybe have a rotation of shows... one for each of the first 3 films?) or adding a ride, or something.... even a little Indy Meet n Greet could be kind of fun. There's so many different fun scenes and concepts from each of the films they could build from.

[edit] But, I'm also 33 years old and this is a franchise I've grown up with and has a lot of sentimental value to me. I don't know about the younger kids out there though, I guess it might not be viable.... Star Wars is also an older franchise but Indy doesn't have the updated movie power that Star Wars has. :\

Indy isn't going anywhere. They're about to milk it like Star Wars so I exepect that whole area including star tours to go and be an Indy area.

I'm still standing by the ride from Paris which is a great coaster, small space and an updated show

Hopefully they'll do one more with Harrison, to make up for Indy 4. That was the biggest poop in Spielberg's career. Why does he have to put friggin aliens in all of his movies. I'm surprised he didn't go back and put aliens in "Saving Private Ryan".

Captain Miller (Tom Hanks) - "Guys Private Ryan has been abducted by Nazi Aliens. We are going to let little Timmy take the lead on this, he just turned Twelve."

They should be able to redeem themselves with an at least halfway decent movie. After that they can ditch the old man and reboot the franchise with Chris Pratt... without aliens. They may have to take it out of Spielberg's hands for that one though, like they did Luca's.

I am in the minority but I prefer Dinosaur to Indy at DLR. I guess I was expecting to be blown away by the Indy ride after reading about it on the DIS but after riding it I didn't understand the hype of why it was so much better.

:thumbsup2 I thought I would like Indy better because my sister and I are huge Indy fans and we went multiple times when we visited, but I actually like Dinosaur more because it's sorta ... telling a story as you go. Indy is just a lot of random Indy elements thrown at you in different sections of the ride and then speeding out to get away from the ball. I mean, I like all the niche Indy jokes, but I think the big open room really is the issue. Even on a first time ride, there's not a lot of suspense as opposed to not being able to see what is at the end of the ride in Dinosaur.

I agree that the show is a one and done. I have often wondered myself why they didn't replace it with the Indiana Jones ride or why the show even existed in the first place instead of the ride.

I definitely feel like its old, but I felt way more tired of LMA after one watch through (which to be honest, I told my friend about it for a year before getting to take him to see it, and then started wondering why I came again). I was able to watch Indy at least 3-4 times before starting to get tired of it, and I only hate it now because of the lame in between jokey action ... I could watch the actual action scenes over and over. I enjoy reliving the movie in live action.

I am surprised that AK didn't simply have a walkthrough attraction with those type of things. My son would have loved that. Or even just a water ride where you see dinosaurs (similar to Jurassic Park at Universal).

Come on Disney! Take the AAs from Ellen and move them to AK!

The show was a perfect fit for MGM studios as the theme of the original park was the "Making of Movies", they just have opted not to update the show itself (they've updated the technology behind it I am sure) in almost 30 years. Once the "making of movie" theme was slowly put to death (no longer filming things there, removing attractions like the Sound Stage, shrinking the Backlot Tour, the show just didn't seem to fit anymore).

Don't get rid of the show, my kids love it every time we go. It would be great to see an additional ride or two to go along with this area. DHS still needs so much more, even with the stuff they're building now, especially for whole family entertainment.

That would be cool and turn Backlot into an Indy/Adventure restaurant!

And instead of recreating an attraction from another park, they could add a new Indy attraction nearby. I'll always vote for the mine train from Temple, but even a water based ride into an Indy style cavern could be cool too.
