Would anyone be interested in a Pal Mickey swap?

Why not buy him new, and then sell him on ebay when I get home?

It prob would work. I watched them for a while until I sold mine (I sold it to a Diser I know, but was offered above that several times, so I know he sells), and he does very good.. I watch completed auctions, and some are listed as new in box..however, since they are selling them for about the going price, I'm betting some are "almost" new in box. Some are used and still getting good prices. Look under completed for Pal Mickey..you'll be surprised how well they did, The prices in completed auctions are $78.01, $58.25, $62.00, $62.00$78.99, $57.25, $55.00, $64.99..etc.

Occasionally I'll see some not sell, or go for about $45..but the few not selling are usually started too high. If you keep yours nice and clean, I think you can sell him for about $45..starting a bit lower (and of course you take the chance he'll sell lower)..that's the price most of the "used" ones go for..although I've seen them higher.

We will be there May 15th - May 22nd. I would be happy with a day or two. We will have a rental car. Let me know if we can get May going.

I think our family would be intrested in the Pal Mickey swap also. I just read about him in some travel book and it sounded like a fun item for the kids. This will be our very first trip to WDW and don't know how the whole swap thing works so we would need to be filled in. Our trip is set for Sept 5-10 2004.

Let us know.

As many of you have expressed concerns on cleaning and "germs" with the Mickey swap and like many have mentioned WDW rents them by the day...therefor they have to be washable to some degree. We just need to find out how WDW preps them for rental.

We will be visiting WDW from Sept 5-10 2004 and are staying at Give Kids the World. I think donating the slightly used Pal's to GKTW is a great idea-if they would accept such a gift. That way the many families and children there would be able to get the benifits and enjoyment of pal Mickey durring their stay.

As a parent who has stayed at the Ronald McDonald house too many times to count I can tell you that the little things can mean so much. And a use of a Pal Mickey would fall into the "little things" catagory.

Well that's just my two cents worth. ....Now who is going about finding out how to clean him.

Someone e-mailed Disney the question about cleaning him. Just waiting for the reply.

I'll be there in 10 days (April 14 - 18). I'm an adult travelling alone, and I considered renting a PM for three of the days I'm there. If there are enough people (and dates for person-to-person hand-offs work out), I'd be willing to buy a Pal Mickey on this trip and have folks that want to pick it up between April 18 and May 18 paypal me their share of the $$, then pass it on to the next family. I live overseas, though, so I really need to pass it off in person the 17th or 18th. It would cost me more than paying for the Pal Mickey myself to ship it to somebody once I get home! So, anybody interested in a mid-April through mid-May swap can feel free to contact me, but I'll *only* start it off if I definitely have someone to hand him off to on the 17th or 18th and have enough people contact me that are willing to paypal me their share before I go.

Thank you for your e-mail. Your message is very important to us and we'll be getting back to you
within 72 hours.

Sincerely,

Walt Disney World Online Guest Services

Guess we will know shortly on how they clean/sterilize the Pal Mickeys.

there are still some open slots for July.....I will update the July sitters with the list. These are the open dates:
July 1 - 5, 16-18, 24-31. If anyone else wants to sign up, send me an email or a pm with your dates. Once all dates are filled, then I will email each sitter with the amount due and where to send money.

Thanks for all the kind words and encouragement.

After discussing with the family, we realized that with our particular kids (3 and 5 yrs), it would be too difficult (for them and for us) to take Mickey away from them at the end of our trip. So we decided that our options are to purchase one to keep, or to not get one at all. (We'll probably buy one).

In short, we're out of the Great Mickey Swap. Good luck to all participants. I still think it's a great idea and I hope you can make it work. Enjoy your vacations!

I should add that we were going to be one of the earliest participants (April 24-28), so my withdrawal may leave someone else as the first to buy Mickey........

If this gets off the ground and there are people for Nov I am willing to be the first to buy on our trip Nov 1st to the Nov 4th .. Just keep me posted .. Michelle ..

Am I in anyone's strand? July 6 to 11? Please let me know!

I have you down for July 6-10 :Pinkbounc

I guess you didn't get the pm I sent to you :(

Anyway, there are a few more slots in July open. Once they are penciled in, I will send everyone an email with the total amount due, request contact info and where to send it.

As I said I will be there Sept 14-18. yes I would love to do a Mickey Swap, I have a few ?'s I have never done paypal before so I would need help with that. Then I would like everyone to know that I do not have kids so If there is a family out there that would use Mickey I would want them to take Mickey 1st. Just let me know.

I am going to be there from Sept. 20- 26th so if this gets underway I would like to participate and I would only need him for 2 or 3 days, I would be willing to share.

It looks like you September girls may be able to pull it off. So far, I see
  • 9/5 - 10 scrapperjill
  • 9/10 - 9/14 ?
  • 9/14 - 18 minniegidget
  • 9/18 - 26 LRigdon
  • 9/20 - 26 shmora

You'll just need someone to fill in that gap and someone to volunteer to coordinate the group. Working with just 4 or 5 families, it shouldn't be too complicated.

Southern4Sure is coordinating the July group. Maybe each month could organize their own swaps. Any volunteers?

It looks like I am the first one now. I am there may 7 to 13 but only need it may 8 to 12th if that. I guess I will undertake May since it looks like I will be needing to buy it anyway! I sent PM's to those of you who are interested in May and maybe we can coordinate one if not two different swaps. Please PM me if interested. We can do Paypal at $2.00 a day. If there is not enough interest then I will let you know if it is a no go. I will post peoples dates on a first come first served basis and then those who miss out I will get you all together to do our own purchase. I was worried that my DS would get attached, but I will just get him another type of cheaper Mickey!

I am interested in the May Mickey Swap!

We'll be there May 15 -22

Microcell: What resort are you staying at? We will be at POR.
