Would an AP be worth it for us?

Sorry if this is in the wrong section... looking through, this seemed like the best forum to put it in.

We went to Disney last year in September - now we are going again in August.

And, (hopefully!) we are looking at going again in February.

Basically, I am hooked now, and considering we don't take any other vacations, and we are at a place in our life right now where we COULD travel 2-3 times a year... would an AP be worth it for us? Or would it not be worth the purchase price?

Also, if we choose to "upgrade" to the AP, how would we do that? Cancel our trip, buy the AP, and rebook? Or could we wait until we are down there then "upgrade" our tickets?

Thanks all, i really appreciate this!

EDIT: Darnit, one sub-forum. Oh well, thanks for putting it in the right place!

I think the magic # of days are up to 11, so if you stay 11 or more days it is a good deal. but don't forget to add posssible room savings into the cost it can make buying the AP even more appealing and cost effective. :teacher:
someone correct me if I am wrong.

I bought an AP for myself last May - and I used it to get an AP room rate for our May trip and for my admission to the park. We were back in July and I used it for an AP discount for that room (we attended a conference but the AP rate was better than the conference rate!). Now we are thinking of going back in April before my AP expires - and I have an AP rate room booked.

We stayed at the CR last May and the savings on that one trip on just the room was worth the cost of the AP for me (compared to whatever other discounts were being offered at the time - or perhaps last May there wasn't any other - I can't remember but I know it was worth it). You could always get just ONE adult AP - that would allow you to book resorts at the AP rate.

Whether to get AP's for the whole family or just one depends on how many days you would visit the park in one year and what the savings are with the AP room rate vs. any other type of discount Disney offers. Since there is no way of knowing what they might offer (if anything!) it is always a bit of a risk if you are JUST getting it for the room discount like I did.

Hope that makes sense!

Correct me if I am wrong oh DIS gods(as I am a newbie :) ) but I believe you can upgrade your tickets to an AP when you get to the world by going to the TTC or to the ticket counter at any park. You could make your reservation now with AAA rate and IF AP rates come out for your dates, call the CRO to UPDATE your reservation to reflect an AP rate(if still available). They do not need to cancel your reservation if it is room only.(pkgs are a whole other ball of wax) When you get to your resort, just tell them you will be bringing your updated AP ticket by the front desk before the end of the day.

Right? :teeth:
