We are going on a cruise in a year, so this question may be irrelevant by then, but.... My one year old has a hard time being left and does much better if his older brother is with him. However, when we go on the cruse, he will be two and a half and brother will be two weeks from turning 4. I am just wondering if anyone has left their older ones in the Nursery. the hardest part I think is that the 7 yo and almost 4 would both be going into the bigger kids area and then the youngest has to go by himself.

What do you all think?

We didn't leave an older child in the nursery but I would imagine it being boring. The room isn't very big. The club has a huge tree slide in it. The characters come out and have personal time with your kids. My 4 year old still talks about it. Asking all the time when are we going back! Anyways, we were on the 3 day and they really didn't have a lot of babysitting hours in the nursery. It wasn't all day like the clubs. Our one year old did enjoy the nursery every evening and she had never been in daycare. She liked all the toys. I thought for sure my one year would hate it because she never really been cared by anyone else. But I was wrong. We enjoyed dinner together every evening without the kids. YOu could always try it and they will page you if your child needs you. We kinda went in with that thought. We didn't even make reservations at Palo.

Good Luck!

Perhaps if you are active in a church that provides nursery care, you could expose him to that during the time before your cruise.
It's just enough time to make them understand that you always come back! Just a thought.

My 2 1/2 year old was bored in Flounders so I can't even imagin how a 4 year old would be!

My nearly 3 year old was very bored in Flounders. She didn't like it at all.

She will be 4 1/2 on our next trip and I *know* she will LOVE the club.

My 4.5 year old was bored too but did enjoy the character story reading and then some play time at Castway Cay. This year he is stoked because he gets to go to the 5-7 club :)

Just got back from a 3 day wonder cruise. Had a kid in 3-4, 5-7 and 8-9 clubs.

I couldnt imagine my 3 (almost 4) year old in the day care. He did very well. He paged us a couple of times but that was to be expected.

We thought the clubs would be great at night so wife and I could do some adult stuff. Problem is that they are sooooo tired that it is best to just go to bed. Others have posted how they kids fall asleep at the late dinner seating, our 4 yr old fell asleep at the 6:30 on the last night. There is no time for naps !!

Have fun!!

Well, that was about what I figured. I'll just have to wait and see how it goes. He may be a totally different child by then. He does go to the church nursery and doesn't do so great, even with his brother with him. We don't plan to use the childcare much anyway, so not like it's a major deal if it doesn't work out.

Thanks for all the feedback.

I am not even sure that they'd let an almost 4 yo into Flounders - would they? The point may be moot anyway...

No, the 4 year olds are in the club, but I thought the question was for a 2 1/2 year old.

My 2 1/2 year old was bored in Flounders.

The info at the top of the board here says that they will allow three and four year olds (he will be three) in the nursery if they would benefit from a smaller group ratio.

On another note and probably should be another thread, I think their ratios are WAY too high!
