Would an ADR at H&V help us get to TSM sooner?

I've heard some not-so-good things about H&V but how bad can you screw up breakfast :) We only have 1 day, at DHS, no hoppers, so I would be as close to RD as possible. If we get an ADR how early will they let us leave the restaurant ? And where do we wait for the park to open ?

:thanks:

The begining of the rope drop area is after the turn off for H&V so I don't believe an ADR would help at all. In fact it might hinder you - I would assume (since they are a park restaurant) that the first ADR is available around 8 - rope drop is at 9. The closer you are to the front of the rope drop the quicker you will get to TSM. You would have to eat REALLY fast to be ahead of the early birds that arrive for rope drop.

Thanks, that settles it. I wasn't thrilled about going anyway, so if it's going to make us lose valuable time then it's definitely a NO.

I read on the Theme Parks Board of someone who used this tactic and it worked wonderfully... what he did he said was not to be expected or tolerated all the time but it was neat. He went and sat in the TSM area and the cms waved and said hi and were all friendly. He felt guilty he could have just walked up and let some of the crowd infront of him, but he had the pixar area all to himself for like 15 minutes. You should try searching it it was neat. AGAIN it is not to become an expected with every breakfast thing but I enjoyed his story!

I had forgotten until just now, but I read exactly the same post.

We went to H&V for breakfast 2 years ago because our kids were 3 and 1, and they loved the Playhouse Disney characters. The food was very good when we went, we had no problems with this restaurant. We had an 8:05am ADR and were out by 8:45 (park opened at 9). I was the second person at the FP machine to get fastpasses for TSM. But, the CM outside the restaurant did not let us walk over to TSM until after RD. However, we were a few steps ahead of the rest of the crowd.

I wouldn't do a character breakfast just to get to TSM faster. We're not doing the H&V breakfast when we go next week because our kids just aren't into those characters anymore. We opted for lunch at Sci-Fi instead, as we believe they would love the chance to dine inside a car, and it looks like a great place to take an air-conditioned break for lunch. I'm still planning to get FPs for TSM first thing at RD.

That was my thinking when I made our H&V ADRs for our trip last month - we had ressies at 8:10am and RD was at 9am....

We were done and out the door by 8:45am - and were confronted by the HUGE crowd of people waiting to be walked over to TSM!!

The food was pretty good - I was surprised and impressed - I had heard it was only so-so...we had a great server and we enjoyed it!

Now, my boys are 10 and 8 and had NO interest in the characters but we had discussed this earlier and they knew we were there for RD and not for the characters..:lmao:

We were staying at the WL and its quite a haul from there to DHS, and we drove but next time Im hoping to stay at the BC/YC and we'll just eat at the hotel and then boat/walk over and skip H&V...

also, I wanted to add it was the last Star Wars weekend so it was CRAZY crowded!!!
