Worth waiting? Or should I rush it through?

I'm currently a resale member with a Sept UY, FOMO has got me wanting to buy direct, plus wanting to buy a cheaper AP. I'm looking at 150 at PIT.
I am going to be staying in resort in Sept, and had planned on setting up a meeting with a guide to set up the new contract. However, am I being silly to do this? Would it be smarter for me to try and buy this over the phone sooner in order to get the 2024 points banked as well?
Would I be doing myself out of an extra 150 points by waiting until September? When's my cut off date to grab those extra points?
I'm also in the UK, so I'm not sure I can even buy over the phone from here. I'm not using finance though.
Thanks all.

Does anyone have an exact cut off date of when I have to purchase by in order to still be able to access my Sept 2024 points? I haven't got all the cash to buy until August...

I agree with doing it now. You can break up the payments over 30-60 days if you like. We did 60 days last Dec/Jan and they took 1/3rd for each payment. I am not sure it is available now but I think they were offering where DVC would buy back your 2024 points if you wanted to reduce the cost per point. I would ask your guide about it. Either way I would not wait until Sept to buy in. We too have a Sept UY and usually add on June-Aug to get the benefit of the extra points.

Is this a recent change? I also wonder how can they get away with not giving you current UY points when you purchase a resort that is currently open.
I read somewhere you can’t bank them 4 business days before your use year, if I recall correctly. You’d still get the points but no availability to use them.

I personally know someone who bought two days before their UY and got their points banked. That was back in 2021 or 2022, so can’t really say if anything has changed.

We owners can’t bank our points less than 4 months from the end of our UY, but when buying direct DVC can waive that rule and bank them for you even a few days before the end of the UY.

If they don’t have any 2024 UY points in stock, they can’t sell them to you. They can change the starting month of points but not the year.

I think it’s a question of how long it takes to close, they need time to complete the paperwork before 9/1. The fact that it’s a cash purchase should expedite that though.

It’s a processing item for date. Sept UY is still in 2024. Those are still the current year points.

There are not many reasons why the points are not going to be available almost immediately. I added a contract last week and my points were in my account and banked in less than an hour. I hadn’t even signed the initial paperwork. They do that for cash and financed purchases.
