Worth purchasing an AP at this point?

I saw on the annual pass page that APHs can also buy "regular" tickets at a discount. So does that mean I could buy the rest of my family's multi-day tickets with an AP discount? How good are those discounts?

You can buy up to six tickets, so as long as you don’t have more family members than that, you’re golden. For a seasonal pass, you can get 10% off multi day tickets at the gate. It’s not as good a deal as it seems because the gate prices are higher than the online prices. You might want to check how it compares with the slightly discounted tickets available through authorized third party sellers.

When we stayed in Jan they never even asked for mine.
It's funny that you say that, because after I posted I started thinking and I actually don't think they asked me either. Because I didn't have it at check-in and I didn't check out at the desk on that trip.

So it sounds like even the special multi day tickets that Universal sells may not be discounted further? Like right now there is where it is buy 3 days get 2 free or something like that. That probably does not get an extra discount?

Didn't want to start a new thread so piggybacking on this one - does Universal give you the full value of the existing tickets for an AP upgrade like Disney does? So, if the ticket in the Universal vacation package is like $480, and the Power AP is $485 - can you really only do it for five bucks, LOL? I'll have a Preferred AP, but am just going to get my finace the Power as the blackout dates aren't any time we would be there, and we can just use mine for the food/merch discounts.

(On that same note...when booking our package, with one ticket for my fiance - the dated ticket was actually like $15 bucks more than the non-dated one - isn't that odd? I thought a non-dated one would be more expensive...almost was afraid to pick it, but ended up doing so anyway. If I had - this would make it super weird, because the Power AP is actually less than the unlimited, dated ticket so I guess the upgrade would have been free?)

Yes. to getting an AP :rolleyes1
:cutie: I just renewed mine. I think the AP at Universal is a deal. Love it.

I'm not sure about the tickets as part of the package. If nothing else you can ask customer service. Most tickets can be upgraded.

Universal will give the full value of the tickets to upgrade to AP, but they won’t give the full value of a vacation package towards an AP purchase. Sometimes with a package, it’s not clear how much the ticket itself is, but I don’t think there are any packages where the ticket portion is $480, unless it’s an extra long international ticket offer or has some other perk like express pass. The most expensive regular 2-park ticket I could find was $420 for 5 days at Christmas. You may need to ask a rep to figure out what the breakdown in order to determine the amount of the credit.
