Worth it?

So, after my last post and all the advice that I received, I am thinking that we might plan for Sept '11. I am pricing this year (since next year is not out) and adding a 15% inflation.

My question is, is it worth it to "buy" points from the DVC trade board here to stay at an (I'm assuming) nicer resort than a value, at a cost of approximately $400 more? (AK Villas vs. All Star Movies)

From my understanding, I could add the dining plan to that (if I'm wrong, please explain), and get the tickets as well.

Also, from what I've seen/heard (in the last couple of days, so I'm still learning), is that Disney normally offers free dining in Sept. Is that correct? Would it be "reasonable" to plan on that? I'm still including it in my budget, but when talking to hubby... (I'm looking at the regular dining - 1cs, 1ts, and 1 snack).

Thanks again for any advice!

Rachel

(AK Villas vs. All Star Movies) I think it is worth it if you plan on getting a bigger resort than value anyways. Why not rent for cheaper than it would be to pay cash. Price out the resort you want to stay at, room only, and then see how many points it would take to stay for the same amount of time at a similar or the same hotel.

From my understanding, I could add the dining plan to that (if I'm wrong, please explain), and get the tickets as well. Yes, you can add the dining plan. A 3 way call would set that up and you can pay up-front for it over the phone.

I'm still including it in my budget, but when talking to hubby... (I'm looking at the regular dining - 1cs, 1ts, and 1 snack). Disney has offered free dining to select rooms in the fall but not always and never guaranteed. To get regular dining free, you would have to book at a resort above value, so no all-stars.

Any time !

if you're a family of 4 or less, you can rent a Studio for less if you only stay Sun-Friday.

If you were going to stay moderate or above, it's probably worth looking into.

Although I wouldn't book anything now except maybe tix as they always go up.

And you don't have to add tix to the dining plan if you book DVC as opposed to if you book an on-site room. So no worries there about having already bought tix.

you can't do free dining if you go DVC if you stay all stars and there is free dining it will be quick service... i find what disney charges a day on dining is WAY more than we ever use but we dont do more than 2 or 3 sit down meals when we are there because i just view it as a waste of time. you will be much more comfortable at a DVC and will have a fridge and microwave for breakfasts in values unless you book a sweet you don't get a fridge you can do a fridge swap or rent for 10$ a day also you are going to be at a much nicer pool at a dvc as well.
