I make my adrs tommorrow, so I need imput. Spending the day at DS and really don't want to do dinner there. How much time would it take to walk/boat to the boardwalk for dinner and head back for emh? We really enjoyed Kouzinna and this is the only night we could do it. We always rent a car so I'm don't know much about travel times through Disney transporation, or should just drive to the boardwalk and back to DS?

The boat ride is only about 10 minutes or so and I find it to be a very enjoyable and relaxing ride. If you are going to be running around the studios all day, I would take the boat rather than walk just to wind down before dinner!

Yeah, the boat ride is pretty short. If I'm remembering correctly, it makes a few stops before BW. The walk is kinda long but doable. The boat would almost certainly be faster even if you have to wait for it.

I doubt driving there would be faster and I hear parking is horrible there.

The boat ride is very short, so no extra transportation is needed. If you have a park hopper, I suggest taking the boat all the way to Epcot to dine in the World Showcase.

Go ahead and make the ADR and realize that you need to be flexible. If you decide that leaving the park for a dinner (on that day) doesn't make sense at that point in your touring plan then be prepared to go with the flow and just eat whatever. Call WDW dining and cancel the ADR from your mobile. I never understand why folks allow ADRs to rule a trip.

The one credit TS restaurants aren't great in DHS but they also aren't inedible. Maybe plan a late lunch for your TS and a dinner CS.

I just asked this question yesterday for traveling from DHS to YC
for eating at Capt. Grille and had mixed answers. Some said it would
be 20 min. some said long time and return was even longer than getting there on boat. Others suggested I walk there, it would be
faster. I don't know what to believe. I Think YC is farther than Bw. We are not going to be in a rush and will be visiting in Value season so I don't see a problem. I thought it was strange that the boat or walking is the only way to get to the Epcot Resorts and for it to be such a long ride does not
make me want to stay at any of these resorts.

I've never had a bad travel experience on the boats or walking between them. As far as I'm concerned, the boats are the most regular and reliable mass transportation in Disney.

Depending on your wait time for a boat at HS, it takes about 20+ minutes to get to Boardwalk. The boat stops first at Swan/Dolphin (where you can get off and walk across the bridge to Boardwalk,) then goes to the Yacht Club/Beach Club dock, then to Boardwalk. I look at it as a chance to wind down and relax for a few minutes. My daughter and her husband often walk rather than take the boat..and they always get there before us.

The boat trip might be short, but the wait for the boat can be long depending on when you arrive and how many people are waiting... just something to be aware of and plan for (give yourself extra time just in case).

Even if you are able to walk right onto the boat and there is no wait to cast off (and we all know that never happens), the walk to BW is quicker than the boat (due to the stops the boat makes before it gets to BW). When you add in a normal wait time for the boat, walking from DHS to BW is definitely faster. It is a nice, relaxing boat ride, but if speed is the issue, walking is the way to go.

Walking is faster than the boat. The YC is farther from DHS than BW is, but, going from DHS, the boat stops at YC before BW, so it is a shorter boat ride (but still not as fast as walking).

As for it being strange that that walking or the boat is the only way to get from the Epcot resorts to DHS, it is no more strange than the bus being the only way to get to MK or AKL. It is just as long a boat ride to DHS as it is a bus ride to MK or AKL.

the boat ride from hollywood studios to boadrwalk isnt long at all nd is nice so yeah its worth to travel

Getting to the boat ramp and waiting could be 20 mins easy. The ride is 10-15 if I recall. So allow 30 mins if you make an ADR.

I think it's worth going, particularly to get away from the DS crowds.

Another one that agrees that walking is faster. Unless the boat is waiting at the dock and you can board right away, walking is faster. The boat ride can be made shorter by getting off at the S/D and walking over the bridge to the BW or BC. We stay at the BWV every trip and have not used the boat in years. We walk to Epcot and to the Studios all the time. We walk at a normal pace and on several trips the boat will be pulling into the S/D when we start walking to the Studios and we always make it before the boat.
