Worth it to get a season pass?

I'm going to be coming w/ the hubs in May for the dental convention and we have a family trip planned in November. Both trips I'll get 3 day hoppers. I'm kind of thinking I should just get a lower tier season pass, 10% isn't a huge discount but it's something.

If I have a season pass, can I buy my kids' passes at a discount? Or is it just merchandise?

Just food and merchandise. Sometimes lodging.

Just make sure that your trip doesn't fall into black out days and you should be good!

Actually your first trip could fall into black out days if you go with a 3 day hopper and just upgrade on the last day, however you do miss out on the discount, which may not be that much anyway

Assuming you don't qualify for the So Cal pass, the lowest tier you'd qualify for is Deluxe @ $599.00. A 3 day hopper is $275.00 x 2 trips is $550.00.

You'd need to 'save' $49.00 in 10% discounts over two trips to break even for just one AP.

I don't know if it'd be worth it to buy APs for everyone, especially if the kids still don't have to pay adult ticket prices. If it were me, I'd buy one AP for the discounts and hoppers for the rest of the family.

Math wise, it does not make sense. You should be able to get discounted park hoppers through the convention.
I bought an AP this year for myself, but not my daughter since I was going down for 5 trips, and planning on only needing 2 3-day hoppers for her.

In your case, I'd say no. We bought ours because we were there 2 weeks, it was cheaper to get an AP vs 14 days of tickets. I don't think the discount makes up for it in your case.

The other thing you would gain by just buying two 3 day passes is a couple of early morning entrances.
