Is it worth it to get the bonuses that Disney Vacations offer: souvenir park hopper vs the paper tickets, lanyard w/pin, luggage tags, Fun Card, souvenir coin, early entry to Toontown, preferre seating to CA shows... hmmm what else?

Can anyone tell me what is the Fun Card? It is a discount card? Can it be used throughout the park?

I have checked & it would be cheaper ($150) if I didn't book through Disney Vacations so just wondering if all the "extra" stuff is worth it.

I got all of those bonuses through Costco - plus a free character breakfast per person AND a $20 gift card (just one).

We got all those bonuses (except Character meal card) plus 15% discount on hotel fees through AAA - We actually paid $350 less then Costco and Disney

one perk i have been told is that guests who book through disney get their special room requests at a priority over other booking agencies (connecting rooms, etc)

In the past I've found that the packages usually end up being the same price, or slightly less than booking all the separate components yourself. One important thing to remember- the packages already include all taxes. Since the bed tax in Anaheim is 15%, this definitely needs to be factored into comparison shopping between booking everything separately, and booking as a package.

it is mostly for stuff in DTD 10% off dining, free kids meal at Rainforest, and discounts at the stores, like BAB and Lego, WOD etc....

It wasn't for me.

Booking through Disney was ~$2400 for the timeperiod 7/3-7/10. This was hotel and tickets only and staying offsite at the Homewood suites, with AAA discount.

By purchasing everything individualy I spent a grand total of ~$1884($1030 for the room and $854 for 6(4 adult/2 child) 3 day parkhoppers) That's a savings of almost $600.

I am dealing with paper tickets.

I think it depends on your circumstances. When the kids were younger, I always booked through Disney...different circumstances now.

Disney package for our November vacation would have cost us $2410 for 4 Adults. This would have included 1 room, for 8 nights at HoJos, four 5-day park hopper tickets, 4 Knott's tickets, 4 Universal tickets and 4 Medievil Dinner show tickets.

By booking seperate I got everything above, plus another room at HoJos for a total of $2189. Having 2 rooms was important because the 2 sons who are going with us are nearly grown men now and it would have been really crowded in the hotel room.

I've always found it to be WAAAAAY cheaper to book everything separately myself. The perks don't really do much for me.

The only perk to getting a package is that you can make payments gradually and have it all paid for by the time you go. If you're disciplined enough, you can do all of that through a savings account of your own and earn your own interest.
