Worst view at a WDW resort-think I had it

Can anyone beat this for the worst view from your room at a WDW resort-

We checked into Wilderness Lodge, I had a standard view rate on sale from Expedia for $140. I had requested an upper floor away from elevator since I'm a light sleeper. At check-in cast member told me room upgraded to wood vew. The room we got was on the first floor right next to the elevators near the Roaring Forks snack bar, nice view of pond but a noisy room.

So went back to front desk and asked if anything else available away from elevator. Cast member said Lodge booked up and only room available was a standard view on 4th floor overlooking a roof. I said fine, no problem looking down from 4th floor to a roof.

Long story short we didn't look down on the roof we could have walked out onto the roof from our balcony. Only view from our room was the entire roof structure over the gift shop, hallway leading to bus stop, etc.

Not really upset, we were only there for a night and weren't going to be in the room very much. But after thinking about it I'm thinking room 4079 in Wilderness Lodge may have the worst view of all the thousands of rooms in Walt Disney World.

We stayed in this same location last December, but a few doors down. We were right over the check in desk. We LOVED this room location. I agree that the "View" outside wasnt that great (the kids were wanting to climb onto the roof!!), but we loved that we were able to sit right outside our front door and overlook the lobby and take in everything that was going on inside (Christmas singers, handbell choirs, people watching). We are not much on balcony sitting (unless in the tower at the CR with a MK view) so the balcony view didnt bother us. I told my DH I would love to stay in that same location again. So close to the bus stop, lobby and a short walk to Roaring Forks. Sorry that you didnt get the view you wanted.

BC has rooms with pretty much same kind of view (with a full balcony) - only instead of dark green rooftop, it is white gravel that causes a constant glare. :)

We requested a change, moved to a room with a step out balcony, but close to the volleyball courts (always quiet during our stay) and an easy walk to International Gateway. :)

We once had a Standard View at AKL that overlooked the Delivery Entrance. No, I didn't take a picture. It was not a memory that I wanted to document.

We did once have one of those Woods View rooms at WL -- on the 1st floor near the elevator and Roaring Forks. Although we enjoyed the ducks walking up to the patio, the room felt somewhat claustrophobic. I really think that it was a smaller room than at the Moderates, where we typically stay.

All in all, I think that the Standard View at a Moderate is preferable to a Standard View at a Deluxe. Even if it faces a parking lot, you typically have a view of some sort of nice landscaping.

Well, we've paid the $$$$ for YC concierge and had a wonderful view of the roof of the buildings - possibly the convention center?? Lovely..

We had a similar view at the Dolphin. Not only did we overlook the roof, but they were doing some repair work on it. Actually, my DH loved watching the work because he always wanted to see how the new rubberized roofing material is installed.

We had a discounted room at the Dolphin, booked with a "resort view". When I can find the picture of the view I'll edit this post!

:confused3 We might not have a private balcony but with the waterview at POR I wont be looking at roofs thats for sure!! I would always prefer to pay for a water view at a deluxe, but I have heard some standard rooms at WL have nice views. Sorry you had a bad room view.

If someone can tell me how I'll post a view from our balcony of the WL roof just for the heck of it.

Oh wow, I think my room might have been worse than yours at WL. Well, we had the same view. In a corner, with nothing but the roof to look at (we were facing the MK but couldn't actually see it). Unfortunately, it was on the other side of the hotel so we didn't even have the benefit of being close to the lobby or bus stop. We had a bad view and a long walk. I wish I could post a pic but that is the year I lost my digital camera in the MK. :sad1:

oops we were on the 3rd floor not the 4th
WE LOVED IT.
hey we paid for a standard room-so we did not pay for a view
it was very peacful over there very relaxing

I would stay there again in a heartbeat

Was your room the one that is wheelchair accessible? We had that room. The room wasn't bad, but the noise in the hallway...Oi. We will never stay near an elevator again.

Some of the rooms at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge have the infamous "dumpster view".

Here is a photo of the "dumpster view" at the WL. It was actually taken from a hallway window rather than from a room, as we had a pondview room just a short distance away.

So true!!!!! Have never had a truly a bad view at a moderate - the first time we stayed at CBR we had a parking lot view - and the pretttiest flowers and palm tress ever!

Fun thread :)

That dumpster view must be one of the worst ever!

In March 07 they tried to put me in one of the dumpster view rooms. The bellman was very nice and called down to the front desk for me. We were moved immediately. I laughed when I looked out from the patio and saw the dumpsters and said to him that I was informed of this view on the Disboards. He knew exactly what I was talking about, so thanks for the help if you are here!

we booked a concierge room at the BWI and had a view of a dumpster, plus we were right above the delivery entrance, lovely trucks beeping at 6:00 am every morning:headache:

We booked a WL woodsview and looked at roofs littered with cigarette butts. I called to say I think we got a standard room because I am looking at all roof. The CM asked me if I could see trees, and I replied Yes, the tops of trees at the far end of the roof, she replied, then it is Woodsview!! I was miffed to say the least. I asked to be moved, but we wanted adjoining rooms with my parents and they said they could not move us because we would be on opposite sides of the resort. We haven't been to WL since!!

My mom and dad had a view of the service area at WL. Early in the morning they would wake up to the sound of a truck backing up (BEEP, BEEP, BEEP). My mom was seriously disappointed, but my dad didn't want her to say anything to anyone at the front desk. Of course, he could sleep through a hurricane!
