Worst untruths inexperienced WDW people say...

Isn't it amazing how many lousy Disney TA's there are out there?! I know there are some excellent ones, but it is a shame that so many people go to a TA, expecting them to help them plan the best trip they can, and end up with a lot of mis information!!

The problem is that most are just TA's, not "Disney TA's". That's why it's important to get a TA that deals exclusively with Disney vacations. Even a large number of AAA TA's don't know anything more than what they are told. I've used AAA 3 times and had 2 different experiences. My first 2 TA's actually visited WDW and were fans and subsequently knew what they were talking about. The other just viewed it as a job. I constantly had to explain to her how things worked. Thank God I was knowledgeable about the parks or I would've been screwed. After my first trip, I haven't needed a TA, but used one just because it costs me nothing and someone will make a commission from it. I believe in supporting people and I was loyal to that office.

One of my classmates ( nursing student) wanted my help in planning her families first trip. I gave her all the info ( they are staying at FW campground so DU was out) and she called WDW directly. A few weeks later she told me that TA, at WDW, told her park hopper tickets were only good for ONE PARK PER DAY!:scared1::scared1::scared1: I almost had a stroke right there in the middle of class! I told to call again, she did and they told the same thing!:headache: So I went home went to the WDW website, printed off the ticket descriptions and handed it to her myself. She was so grateful that I knew what I was talking about because WDW Travel Company didn't. So many first timers get misinformed!

My one wish is that people would use the proper name of Walt Disney World. Roy added the name Walt as a tribute and it is my small pet peeve! Also when Disney World is made one word it drives me nuts.

Our daughter will be 18 months old when we take her in September and I get alot of the she won't remember it comments. We have been every year since we have been married so we would vacation there regardless. And my husband doesn't remember much from one time to the next either!!!
So not true!!!!

We go every year - my 9 year old has been 11 times to WDW...and she remembers. Its cumulative but at 4 she could tell people going where to eat, what rides to ride, etc.

Now she and her brother who is 7 remember things. Sometimes they will say - remeber that one trip when we did this or that and I am shocked that they remember b/c they were only 2 or 3 on that trip. But the truth is that if you go a lot - then they will remember b/c it is a special part of their lives!! My DS7 is very upset that we don't currently have a trip planned. (my DH is unemployed) It is a very foreign concept in this family not to know the next time we are going!! They may not remember details but the definitely remember the feelings!!

I was on the bus back to BWV this week and heard a family saying that they should purcahse the new Verizon App because they could get their fastpasses on their phone????

My biggest pet peeve is people who call the Magic Kingdom "Disney" as in,

"We spent the whole day at Disney on Thursday & Friday and then went to Epcot on Saturday"

It drives me crazy!!!!

When I was working at Animal Kingdom, I heard this ALL the time. My best response to this was "The last time I checked, I worked for Disney, and I'm supposed to be working. So where are we?" Or something along those lines. People are like "well you know what I mean".

While trying to make me jealous, an acquaintance RAVED about the wonderful view of the castle from her hotel room...at the Swan.

Yes, must have been much better than my TPV room at the Poly.

5 days and 5 parks(one waterpark) and didn't really miss anything. How was the Festival of lions King?" Oh we didnt do that", did you see Nemo and Friends?" oh we didn't do that" the list went on and on......

:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

If she isn't thinking of Anaheim, she's living in the future, nearly a year in the future, when Legoland is open in Orlando...

Actually, Legoland is in Winter Haven. It's about 45 minutes outside Orlando (give or take, depending on traffic). I believe it's supposed to open in October.

I had a friend that was going to be in Disney staying at ASM the same time as my family would be at SSR. I asked her if she wanted to meet up at one of the parks and she yes said Universal Studios:confused3. Now I knew they weren't renting a car so I had to ask how they going to get to Universal. She told me that they were taking the Disney bus there.:rotfl2: We never did meet up while there but when we returned I asked her how they got back and forth to Universaland she told me that they took cabs there and back because it was just easier......Whatever!!!!

Well, it's a lot easier than getting a Disney bus to take you there! :rotfl2:

Same here. I've been known to decide that I'll take the kids to WDW in three weeks and then wait until a few days out or even until we get there to bother with dining reservations. I honestly can't think of a single time that we didn't get what we'd hoped for. Maybe we're just lucky? I don't know, but whenever I read here about the crazy planning some folks do I"m just really puzzled. Whatever works, I guess.

I've done the same (including during Christmas), but I think it's because there are last minute cancellations. Of course, there are also no shows, but if I had several people going, I would make sure I had ADR's.

There is also a big section on the park map brochures that discuss the Fast Pass distribution!!!

Maggie

Do some of these people even look at the maps?

Two adult women were seated behind us on the safari at Animal Kingdom. The one lady (at least in her 40's) was the most negative sounding person and quite loudly, more than once, expressed that she could not believe that people were really buying into that these were real animals. She said that "everyone" should know that they are only the animatronic ones and, in her opinion, some weren't even very good!

I sooooo wanted to turn around and say something....but what would have worked ?? That was when I wished an animal had come right up to the jeep - or there was a way to engage a cast member (the one on the safari's is actively speaking and driving of course)

It aggravates me every time I think about it!

Here's your animatronic animal:

How about, "The heat isn't THAT bad in the summer."

:lmao: OK....I was reading along and I admit *I* say that!!!! However, I guess I'm just a dork because I really don't think it is THAT bad in the summer....maybe I have selective memory but I don't remember thinking it was any worse than some of the hot summer days we have here.

I think that one is really subjective and all depends on what you are used to.

I will say the trip can be overwhelming...I planned our first one for 3 years and basically 90% of what I read/learned went right out of my brain when I was there. I couldn't remember it all..and ended up mixing up a few attractions in my head....hey I was creating my own version, what do you want. :rotfl:

YES! I'm not alone! :rotfl2:
