Worst Restaurant in WDW

To those tempted to freak out due to a PS they have based on comments you've read here... please keep in mind that you can get a poorly prepared meal or surly waiter at ANY restaurant. What would concern me are consistent reports of bad food, long waits, and quality versus cost. For me, probably the worst sit-down place in WDW is "Sci-Fi". The theming is a bit "cute", but the real horror in there isn't up on the screen, but when the bill comes. I'm used to "Disney" prices, but "Sci-Fi" doesn't rate charging that kinda dough for that menu.

For counter-service, I'd say the pits is the "Electric Umbrella" in Epcot.

I will counter the bad reports from Columbia Harbor House by saying that it's probably the best counter service we've encountered. We've eaten there the last three times we've gone and have enjoyed it. The clam chowder in the bread bowl is AWESOME when you're there in the cool of January!

LOL-many of the ones mentioned have been among our favorites. My absolute worst was Boatrights-the most surly server ever, and a very mediocre breakfast buffet. Two others we didn't like were Coral Reef and Electric Umbrella.

Our worst is the rainforest cafe. The food is either over cooked and cold or under cooked and cold. I had a grilled cheese sandwich last time and they counldn't even get that right. Also my smoothie kinda seperated like oil and water does so I didn't drink that.

Also beavertails yuk yuk yuk what when down came straight back up. Most vile thing I have ever tried.

Alfredo's Epct-seems to be a very popular place that people have not liked the food. My family loves Italian food and eat it a lot, but the bad food at Alfredo's when they are supposed to be chefs from Italy is horrible.
Bongo's DTD- the food was cold and did not taste very good. I have a couple of Bongo's where I live and I have never had a bad experience in one down here.
Fulton's DTD-the food was not that great and extremely overpriced.:(

Just back last night. Tony's (see other post) was just okay. Missing a lot of atmosphere. Chef Mickey's for breakfast was okay, but we had one of the 'cheerleaders' for our waitress. Kept things moving, but very good service from her. Food was so-so. Kona Cafe for breakfast was very good. Olivia's for breakfast, and dinner was very good. (Due to seating error, we were not approached by waiter for 10 mins) When I complained not only were we given imediate attention, but comped drinks/wine and soup) We skipped Ohanas because last trip, January, the menu was just a fraction of what used to be on it. They have cut out a number of the items on the skewers that they used to serve, as well as those great dumplings that were on the first course tray. And poor service, and a singer right out of "The Ritz".
Whispering Canyon last trip was very bad also. Oh, Mama Melrose was good, but see post about that also.
Seems overall the food is not what it once was. Perhaps the reason is that if you look on the receipt they are now refered to as a 'store'. That may be a left over from Pressler, or the idea now that these are retail outlets selling merchandise, not restaurants serving food.

Another vote for the Rainforest Cafe at AK. We ate there for breakfast and nothing was cooked. Our eggs were runny and the sausage was cold. Never again will we eat there!!

Oh and Sci Fi I thought was pretty bad too. There isn't a whole lot on the menu. The atmosphere is nice, but it's a little to dark in there for my liking. I do like 50's Primetime Cafe though. The pot roast was pretty good :)

Hi..

Wow.. I didn't even know Rainforest had breakfast... we have always had lunch or dinner and I think of that place as a good salad, chicken wing kinda place...

Interesting

We hated Crystal Palace, Garden Grill and Whispering Canyon. Loved Sci-Fi, though.:D

We ate breakfast at Rainforest in AK and I believe it cost $50+ for two adults and two children....don't think I'll be trying that again too soon!

There are a lot of restaurant critiques I agree with on here...

Alfredo's - after two visits it just doesn't do anything for me for the $$$ that was spent and quality of food served.

Tony's - One of the worst meals I have ever eaten (crunchy pasta and terrible "sauce")

Boma's - Didn't care for this restaurant. Maybe it was the buffet but did not think the food was that great.

Chef Mickey's - Your paying for the characters not the food quality and it shows.

Those that I have enjoyed though that got some unfavorable reviews...

Coral Reef - Very good presentation and the aquarium window was a big hit with the kids.

50's Primetime Cafe - Have visited twice and will go again. Good homemade food just like mom used to make :) Our server Uncle David kept on yelling to "junior" (my DS) to keep his elbows off the table. He even put someone from the table next to us in "time out". A lot of fun!

Yachtsmen Steakhouse - The BEST restaurant I have been to at WDW. Outstanding!

All in all, everyone has different tastes and will enjoy different things that others may not care for. The one thing I have learned from my dining experiences at WDW is that the majority of time you will be paying great food $$$ but will only receive average food quality. JMHO

Definitely the worst - Rainforest Cafe' - downtown. I will never eat there again. Service is terrible and the food is just so-so.
