Hopefully this might help someone else
. We had an Ohana breakfast last week (we go every year as Stitch is a favorite character for my boys), and had a somewhat terrible experience. The server did not refill our drinks at all and never asked us if we wanted food refills. A long time passed, and I couldn't find her, so I walked up to the front and found the host who seated us (Fern - he was great
), and asked him if he could help us. I did this so I wouldn't sit there and get more and more upset.
He found our server and she quickly brought out more juice, but added a snarky comment - "I was in the parade, didn't you see it?" This would have been fine, but we were out of drinks well before the parade started. I work in a service job, and I think the proper response would have been, I'm sorry, what else can I get you? Anyway, before we could respond and ask for more eggs and bacon, she disappeared again!
After a while, Stitch was coming close to our table, so I decided to sit tight and wait for her again. It was a few moments later that Stitch walked right past our table. Now, I know that this was an accident, but it was the last straw. It may sound silly, but at this point I was in tears. When you get up for a character breakfast, you don't expect to have to fight for your drinks, food and characters.
So, I went and found Fern again and through my emotions (I was probably tired too
), I told him I did not even want to see that server again. To put this into perspective, I have NEVER done anything like this. I'm normally the person who quietly slinks away and hopes for a better trip next time. It was just sad to have a long anticipated traditional Ohana breakfast ruined. At this point, most of us were too stressed to eat more breakfast - we just wanted to leave.
Well, Fern apologized, disappeared for a long time and after a while, our server came back out and was very sweet. I really didn't want to deal with her, but whatever attitude she had if she had it, was covered up. She spent time talking with the kids and showed no ill will. If I was her, I would have harbored some resentment towards us, but like I said, if she did, it was covered up. She didn't apologize or bring it up in any way, but she did find Stitch for us and she was very attentive.
The sad thing is, we tend to be easy customers and big tippers. I'm not sure what happened with her, but it really did ruin our breakfast.

. The opportunity just wasn't there to call Stitch back - I might have been too slow - he was halfway to the other side of the restaurant before I could believe it
. Anyway, I think this was just a fluke and probably won't happen again - just some bad luck and for some reason bad service (at the end, our server seemed very nice - I'm not sure what the deal was with her).

. Being skipped by Stitch wouldn't have been such an emergency since I knew we could ask and someone would bring him back. It only felt like an emergency because it was the last straw. I felt like I was a "dead person" in the Sixth Sense (I think that's what its called) and nobody could see us
.
. Or maybe its a crappy place to work. The first few times we went to Ohana, it was great. Fun, playful interaction by the characters and servers who seemed glad to be there. If the work atmosphere is bad or if they're understaffed, I'm guessing that will trickle down to guests.
