Worst Meal Ever????

Why do they add an extra 10% to the bill?

They add 10% for those dining in because someone refills your drinks. But the place looks much like the value resort food courts with the fountain drink machines out in the open. It seems a bit steep of a price to pay when it is probably easier to walk over there and grab the drink yourself. But that's just my opinion.

I think the worst meal I've ever had at WDW was lunch in July 2005 at CRT. We were so excited to be going there and got caught in one of those short downpours on our way to the restaurant. We were wet, not dripping or anything, and our waiter acted as if we offended him by coming to the palace wet. Everyone was wet. He made various rude comments the entire time we ate. We asked for drink refills and he acted as if we were really putting him out then, also. One of my daughters really enjoyed the dessert (that buckle thing) and my other daughter and I did not. My youngest daughter finished my older daughter's and my dessert and this rude man actually commented on that, too! She was sixteen and weighed maybe one hundred pounds and he commented on how much she ate! I wanted to tell him that I work at a high school and his rude comments could be dangerous if he happened to make one to a girl with an eating disorder! We found him so rude that we decided to take his picture so we never forgot him! He's in our album and now we laugh about it. The waiter we offended by coming in wet out of the rain and then (heaven forbid!) eating the food!! We'll never go there again. We can certainly be treated poorly for much less money!

1900 Park Fare!! The food there was horrible!! DOn't get me wrong I love WDW and their restaurants but the breakfast we had there was not good at all.

I totally agree with you on this one..it was horrible! Everything was dried out and hard.....yuck!

Liberty Tree Tavern Dec 05...bland food, bad service and characters that whizzed by on the way to their breaks not really stopping...no thanks won't do it again.

I've had some great dining experiences in Disney lately- namely Le Cellier, Sci-Fi, and Crystal Palace.

However, the WORST meal I've had a Disney recently was Whispering Canyon Cafe. The food was not worth the money, in my opinion. Much of what we got was very greasy and not appetizing. The worst was the service, though. Our waitress was not attentive and unable to answer our question about the menu. The worst part, though, was the woman running the activities with the children. The kids were completely disorganized and had no idea what was going on because she would just randomly yell things out and seemed like she despised her job. We did not have any kids with us, but I felt bad when looking around at the tables where the parents were sitting with their cameras and waiting to laugh and for the kids to have a good time! I teach elementary school and wanted to tell the lady that I would stand up and do her job for free!

That being said...I still love Disney. :goodvibes I just have NO desire to go back to that place!

Just got back and would have to say LTT. We did the Character dinner and the food was terrible, prices high and just all around not worth it.
I really tried to give them a break but now a week later I still feel it was not worth it.

Loved lunch at Crystal Palace though.

Boma

This place was bad, we didn't like any of the food and the people working there weren't that friendly either. I know this is one place known for either you like it or you don't. Well We Don't! Won't be returning.

San Angel -

Won't go there again. Went 2 years ago during DDP - place was crammed full to the max, barely room to walk between tables. Waiters were overworked and often left you alone wondering where your dinner was. So dark you couldn't see what you got, but whatever it ended up being - it wasn't good. Just glad we were on the dining plan & hadn't paid good hard cash at the table for the food.

Le Cellier... we had horrendous service and the salmon had no flavor at all, maybe I'll try it again someday, but I really have no desire to go back.

For us it has to be Hollywood and Vine, the food was cold, yukky and there was only a small choice, and the service was very bad, but this was also a few years ago.

Without a doubt - Le Cellier. Waited almost an hour - even with a ressie. My mother barely made it back to the Poly before she was ill and the other three adults were all hit within the next 4 hours. Fortunately, the kids ate hot dogs and were spared.

Spoodles! Both times I went the food was extremely greasy and nasty. The first visit made me feel sick to my stomach (as well as two others in my group). The 2nd time I picked at my food and just gave up. Horrible IMO!

Not horrible for me, but Le Cellier was way over priced for what we got. No one was overly impressed with the food we had there.

Not at WDW, but at DLP!

Well, actually, I don't know if it was the worst meal ever, because we never ate there.
During the day, we had made ADRs for the Blue Lagoon, the restaurant inside the POTC ride (comparable with Blue Bayou at DL). We arrive on time for ADR, I ask if she has a waterside table (she hasn't and doesn't ask if we want to wait for one). She then says we can go on until the bridge (place where they take the little note and actually seat you).
There were lots of nice free 2-person tables free, with a nice view, but no, the girl takes us all the way to the back, and seats us at a table... it was halfway on a stair case, wasn't set properly (not all the silverware was there) no candle on it (mind you, it's dark in this restaurant, like at San Angel Inn), ...
We are handed a menu each, and that's it. In the section we are sitting in, no one else is. No other guests, no waiters, no one.
After 20 minutes (yes, we waited that long) we got up and left the restaurant, but not before complaining to the hostess.
Apparantly, the section we were in was closed, and it was not that table's number she had written on the note. She did offer us another table, but we declined. After a long hot day in the park (yes, it was one of those few days a year it gets hot at DLP, lol), when I am thirsty AND hungry, you better don't mess with me when I want to eat/ drink, lol.

We then left the park, went to Planet Hollywood and had a lovely dinner. Thank God we arrived there just before the park closed, so we didn't have to wait!

What is the worst meal you've ever had at WDW?

Ours was Mama Melrose! It was terrible. I had a flatbread that tasted like a chalky Weight Watchers pizza. My husband had a pasta dish that they forgot to even put the sauce on it. It was by far the worst meal we've ever had in a restaurant...let along WDW.

I'm gonna get skewered for this one but...

California Grill (ducks to avoid flames being thrown).

My wife and I had an ADR (or whatever they were called back then) back in 1999, on our honeymoon. We waited almost an hour for our table. That was a bad start, but I chalked it up to us having a relatively late dinner ressie (and yes, I know...fireworks = slow table turnover). We had a drink at the bar and enjoyed the observation deck. Not a real big deal.

Once seated, our server was another good 5 to 10 minutes before coming to our table. She was brusque, rather short with us, and not friendly at all. She asked if she could take drink orders and I said we were actually ready to order everything. She was visibly, and obviously, annoyed by this (though why, I don't know).

While we were waiting for our server, we had looked at our menus and loved what we saw. In particular, one dish stood out, but had something I'm allergic to in the vegetable side (Literally, the ONLY thing in the world I have an allergy to....and it's not a super common thing). I asked our server if I could substitute something, ANYTHING, else for that item...any other veg. She rolled her eyes, sighed, and said she'd have to ask in the kitchen.

She returned 10 min later and said the kitchen could substitute something else. I said fine, and we placed our order. Apps and entree.

The apps never showed up. The entree's did, about 30 min later (the server didn't check in once during that whole period), and I pointed out a) the apps had never arrived and b) she'd just served my entree with the item I asked to be subbed out. She got very "huffy", said she would have the apps put in now if we wanted (I said no thanks), and she'd consult with the kitchen to see why my entree was not made it out correctly (like she was doing me a HUGE favor to do so). I said to leave the existing entree, and asked her to just go procure a new plate with the substitute veg on it..I'd pick around the stuff on my plate I couldn't have. I did this because, at this point, we'd been more than patient, and the track record wasn't good...I didn't want to wait another 20 min for my food. She disappeared and didn't come back, not once, except to drop off the check...and THAT was 15 minutes AFTER we'd obviously finished eating. So I never did get the sub. And we spent close to 3 hours (our ADR was for 6:45...we left at close to 9:30)

FYI, the food we DID get was good, but not great. We'd have MUCH better on that trip. The execution of whoever was working in the kitchen that night was just not great. The menu items were varied, and interesting sounding, but....they just didn't come out of the kitchen nearly as good as they were on paper.

I paid the check, and stopped on the way out to speak to the host and ask for a manager. I explained the whole situation to him, he tooks some info from me (we'd charged to the room), and promised he would take care of the meal. He never did.

We got home and I wrote a letter to Disney, expressing my dissatisfaction with the entire evening. We DID get something back from them...we ended up getting a free meal at Le Cellier on our next trip...so at least they did, eventually, "make it right". But it was, by far, the worst meal we've EVER had on WDW property.

To add to that, we DID go back to the CG, figuring, after all the glowing reviews we'd seen, we must have gotten them on a bad night. Well......about all I can say is it WAS better. Not much better (service was still slow, though at least not RUDE...food was still just "OK"...actually, my wife's was cold, and our entrees had to be remade..but in the end the apps were good (we GOT them!!) and when we ate, the food was marginally better than previously). But better. And I'd even made the ressie EARLY so as to ensure we were not caught up in the "fireworks crowd". We vowed, based on the price of the meals, we'd never go back on our dime..

I've been back for business dinners, on conventions. It seems they handle large parties pretty well....but my wife and I will never go back there on our dime. 2 chances, considering all the other WONDERFUL options at WDW, were enough.

San Angel Inn.... it's not that there was anything 'wrong' with the food but it really lacked in flavor and warm at best. Pretty slow service and we felt packing in like sardines. I'd say the atmosphere makes up for the food (at least during free dining lol) :rotfl:

It so sad. San Angel used to be really good....but for the past 3 to 5 years, the complaints have really been mounting.

The Mole Pablano USED to be really excellent. It's now flavorless, mass produced tasting, mealy, and lacks any sort of real punch.

Ok, I'm putting my flame retardant suit on, for us it was... California Grill.

We had a great table, next to a window with a beautiful view of the Magic Kingdom, but, the food was unimpressive and the service was mediocre. We left without ordering desert (which never happens, never ever happens) 15 minutes prior to Wishes. We practically ran out of the restaurant, could not get out of there fast enough :sad2:

LOL!!

Nice to see I'm not the only one. Maybe we can get our flame retardant suits in bulk.

:)

Sorry to hear about the bad experiences at the California Grill! I think I'll cross that one off for our next trip. :(

Though it pains me to say this (because we've, as you read above, had such bad luck with the place), I wouldn't cross it off the list.

Maybe go with the reports here in mind....but I certainly don't regret TRYING CG. I just won't go back. Maybe you'll have better luck. There are certainly many, many, many positive reviews of CG here on the disboards....maybe we were just unlucky twice.
