The only bad experience, but it was horrendous, was when my 2yo and 4yo were sent through the Haunted Mansion alone. The Cm had sent us to a car that was too far up on the platform, I waited for the kids to climb in, and just was I was about to get in, the door to the car closed. My brain did not register what was happening, as I was trying to pry open the door. I couldn't figure out why I couldn't open the door, I would not let go of the car, until I was pulled onto solid floor, and my arm was going to get ripped off in the tunnel. I had to let go. The SCREAMS I heard. My kids were absolutely horrified that I was not in the car with them. My Dh was directly behind them with my older DS, I yelled to Dh that they were in front of him, and I asked the Cm where the exit was. (why I didn't ask him to stop the ride, I don't know, I was just panicked and knew I had to be at the exit when they came out) He told me there was no way to get to the exit, I had to go through the ride. WHAT??? MY KIDS WERE IN THERE. He just shooed me to another car, I hopprd in, I am now about 10 cars behind them. I have all I can do not to burst out crying. What were they doing, were they dead of heart failure? Pure fright? Were they trying to climb out of the moving vehicle. Were they going to be TRAUMATIZED???
After what seemed like 100 years, I finally made it to the end, my Dh was holding onto the 2yo, who was holding onto daddy for dear life, and he was hysterical. My 4 yo was standing next to him, she looked fine, until she saw me, and then she just lost it. "mama, why did you leave us????!!!!" That did me in, I crumpled into a sobbing mess, and grabbed her up. All of us exited, crying our eyes out (except for Dh). We sat down on the bench outside the exit, to try to calm down. Someone saw us, and knew something terrible must be wrong and went to get someone. A manager of the ride came over, and I just lost it. I could not believe he (the cm) did not stop the ride once he knew a 2 &4 yo were on it ALONE. I pointed out to her that every SINGLE ride in WDW has a posted sign stating that nobody under the age of 7 can ride without an adult. So why would he not stop the ride once he realized the adult was not on it with them???
She was very nice, and helped me calm down. She was horrified also, it never, ever should of happened. She offered to let us go on the ride, together. It was a great idea, and I took her up on it, because I did not want that to be my kids last memory of HM. I wanted them to go through it WITH ME. So guess what? We went back in through the exit, to the loading platform. It was literally a straight walk back in. The Cm had told me I could not access the exit from the loading platform .....BS! Also, the manager went over, hit a button, and the ride STOPPED. It stopped so the platform would not move, and my kids could make sure I got in with them. Amazing, how a punch of one button stops that ride.
It has been 4 years, my older Ds will bring it up occasionally, but for the most part, I was more traumatized than the kids...I will never, ever forget it.
