worst assignment ever

I wish we had reading summer assignments. I've read To Kill a Mockingbird and Secret Life of Bees, both were amazing. I liked the movie To Kill a Mockingbird, the Secret Life of Bees movie was fantastic too.

Well, I thought it was really good

I wish we had reading summer assignments. I've read To Kill a Mockingbird and Secret Life of Bees, both were amazing. I liked the movie To Kill a Mockingbird, the Secret Life of Bees movie was fantastic too.

We just have to read one book and then do a report on it afterwards.

I liked the movie more because the book had small text and it was difficult to read.

i don't think anyone has had a worse summer reading experience than me. I go to a small baptist private school. no offence to baptist's but these people were insane. they made us read a 500 page book. it was written in the 1800's and was how people changed there lifes to be more like christ. I'm a christian so I have nothing against the concept and was the book itself. they had atleast 20 main character, not even adding the minors. the print was a small as a dictionary. 500 pages. nothing happened through the whole entire book. it was just how people started to pray more, and be nicer. a rich woman gave money to poor. a pastor helped a homless man. thats it. I learned nothing. i'm ussaully for summer reading but not when its like this.

My school doesn't have a Summer reading list which I'm pretty realived about.
I'm taking Drivers Ed. this Summer and it's a huge course to take during the Summer since they have to jam so much in just one month (It's normally a Quarter class)
So I get double the homework in that class, so I have about 2 hours a day plus the class is 2 hours along plus 2 drives a week which are 3 hours each so I just don't have much extra time in the day...
So I don't need a Summer reading list since I'm reading enough right now lol

This year going into 6th grade we have to read maximum f 10 books. I all ready read 5 already!!!

I was always in pre-ap english classes and we had to complete 3 books/summer, and fill out an ap form on them each, and then they were due on the first day of school.

but, it wasnt as bad as I remember it being anyways.

Wow. We got a list of books before school ended. They even had a few days to purchase the books during lunch. I did pick the shortest book, though. I read Story Of A Girl.

OMG!!! My teachers are evilllllll. Every year they make us read a certain amount of books. Every year before 8th grade was just one book. I can handle that. But this year they made us read two books and, honostly, who wants to waste their summer reading when you could be out doing something. I only have one more book that I have to read, but still, I hate this.

I love reading so that doesn't sound too bad to me.

If you want to do stuff during the day just read the book at night.

I have no summer reading assessments, but I wish I did. Instead, I have some homework. I have to write detailed summaries on different tectonic activities for Geography, some questions, and start writing a self experiment thingy in Biology, summary on about 40 different scientists and their contribution to radiography in Physics, and a 10 mark question about the different influences on criminal behaviour for Psychology -_-

I'm a bit confused... If you had a list of books to read, why choose one about following in Hitler's footsteps if you knew it was similar to that? Surely you read the summary before reading it. Actually, I think you may have picked up the wrong book. I just read the summary on Amazon, and it's a sort of parody on old fairy tales...

I'm confused. I found a Goose Chanse by Patrice Kindl, but it's a fairy tale and only 224 pages. How is that hard to read?

It really doesn't take long to read 224 pages. Just do it at night and hang out with your friends or whatever during the day.

I always had to read three books until high school then we only had to read 2 but they were harder and longer obviously

Teachers pick the books for you, so you'll read things that expand your mind. Otherwise, every kid would pick to read Twilight or Harry Potter. They're called 'classics' for a reason, because they've been around for a while and you could learn a lot by reading them.

I'm not sure I agree with you. I'd much rather be told that you have to read two books, or even three over the summer (not such a big task), and the only guidelines given would be length of the book and genre. That way people would hate it a lot less because they get to choose to read something that interests them.

They NEVER grade or discuss the summer reading books. It's just something to keep your mind active while on break. During the school year it's more appropriate for them to dictate which books you read, because then EVERYONE is reading the same thing and reasonable discussions can be had about them.
