Hi,

I am leaving for WDW in the first week of June.

I have just filled in the forms and will mail in my passport info tomorrow.

I am hearing that if you don't have it now, you wont have it for spring break. I'm obviously going later than spring break, but I am still worried...Do you think it would be that backed up that I wouldn't get it by the end of May?

I am probably over-reacting...just need reassurance :P

It shouldn't be a problem for June :goodvibes However, it's always better to bring your documents directly to an office than mail them in. It sounds like the backlog is really piles of mail that they haven't opened yet. You haven't indicated where you're from -- if there's any office within an hour's drive from you, it would be worth it.

oh really? Ok, I should go in person though. It's just really hard to find a day to go, with me being in school and all...Apparently it could take hours...I guess I could always just skip a class or something.

Ps. I'm in WPG, so there is an office here....I went in person for my passport awhile ago, but unfortunetly it expires this month!

I'll go in person then..thanks!

I'm from the 'peg too. A girlfriend of mine is in Mexico and went down to the passport office in early January when the lines were super busy and was still able to get her son's passport in time. I don't think you will have any problems for June.

We only waited three weeks by going to an office. It saves you time to wait in line!!! Also, it will save you even more time if you use the online feature.

Hi Magic, learning the hard way, GO IN PERSON. We leave next week and are still waiting :headache: I applied in a service area begin of Dec and i am freaking out. Less then 9 days, i should be enjoying the planning but i can't even pack yet!! I really can't look at any disney books etc(except this website- ;) I should have gone in person but when i applied i was assured i would get them in 20 days  My how our government can change things after the fact :headache:

Definetly make the time and go in person it will be the only way to ensure the fastest possible processing. good luck!

Or better yet.... let your MP submit it for you! Saves you waiting in line, and apparently is as fast as going to the office. And if you don't believe me, have a look at this document that I received from my MP's office today. (he's trying to help me track down my passports to be processed before we leave in early March)
*note* You do not need to fill out this form if you are only having your MP submit your Passport Application. (this is only if they need to intervene on your behalf)
Hope this little known fact helps some other DIS'ers!!
Liz

I'm not sure putting more trust in gov't red tape would be better than doing the legwork yourself :sad2: There really is nothing to it if you live close enough to an office.

the MP office has pull if need be. They have contacts to get in touch with passport canada that we don;t have. Unless waiting to call the Passport office all day is an option, they can call and have someone check the status and get much quicker response. i did and they were able to get a response on my behalf. It is worth a shot!

We just did ours through the office in Wpg. on Jan 31st. We had ours done online, and we only showed up at the office at 11 am, and we were out of there by 12 noon. I was expecting to be there all day, I had brought snacks, a book, magazine, and my IPOD, lol. I was shocked it didn't take that long! We are leaving March 25th, and the guy at the desk said it wouldn't be a problem at all receiving them.

However, the ppl in the written out manually had 'hours' to wait. One lady I was speaking with showed up there for 9am, and when we left at noon, she was still about 70 numbers away from being called up.

Seeing as you are in school, take a morning during spring break and do it then. Just make sure you fill it out online! It will be plenty of time before you leave in June, just make sure you fill it online first!!!

Good luck to ya
