Worried I'm going to lose my room...

Booked an early December stay at WL as a room/tix package about 4 months ago. After our last stay in August we upgraded to APs, but... I was hoping the MDE would "read" our new APs and apply them as the "tickets" to the WL package we booked pre-AP. No go. It still has it as a MMY package and we all still have 4 day park tickets listed, as well as our APs!

I'm just worried that when I call they will cancel the package and try to rebook it as room only, and, at this point, nothing is available at WL when we are going. That seems backwards, almost like punishing me by taking the room away because we upgraded to APs but stranger things have happened at Disney!

Will Disney let us keep the room as perhaps an AP Package, and utilize our APs as "tickets"? Or will they try to cancel the whole thing and attempt to rebook it?

Just tell them you want to take the tickets off. Instead of cancelling and re-booking, they will do what's called a Basic Package. It's a room without tickets or the dining plan that has the ability to add these components later. When we decided to get AP's, we already had a vacation package (room and tickets) booked. When I called, they switched me to a Basic Package. I've since requested the Basic Package when booking as a passholder. It gives us the flexibility of possibly adding the dining plan later. And we like the fun luggage tags.

If the tickets are part of the pricing for your room, you'll need to get the tickets to keep the special pricing. But you can use them for later instead of using them while you have an active AP. But if you just added the tickets, you should be able to remove them without losing your room.
