Worried about upcoming stay ...

I was involved in the planning. I've seen pictures of the themed rooms at AOA for a few years now and thought they look so cute so we decided to give it a try this year. I've never paid attention to the resort levels before honestly. My friend is a travel agent and use to book for us. My husband and I were watching some videos on YouTube giving tours of AOA and I guess it just didn't seem like what we were looking for. They were able to change us at a different resort no problem so all is well.
That's totally ok to think it may not work out. Disney has plenty of places to stay if you want to stay on-site that can accommodate tons of desires.

It just seemed like you were focused on the category (Budget- Disney="Value") aspect of the resort you were initially booked at rather than the resort itself (such as the theme, the rooms, the layout, your personal comfort with your traveling party, etc).

If you never paid attention to the resort levels before not sure why you would have worried so much now especially after having seen pictures of the themed rooms at AoA for a few years...ya know what I mean?

Glad you were able to be switched to another resort! At least you know now you don't want to stay at the Values because they are 'budget'.

I stayed in a Cars Suite last May and was pleasantly surprised. There was only 3 of us, so it was comfortable. I liked the food court, something I miss at the DVC and Deluxe resorts. ButI can't imagine 4 adults and 3 kids.

Totally normal to know what the room looks like over the resort as a whole, I get it. When we book hotels elsewhere, I'm usually more focused on the room, not the entire hotel - which I have lived to regret!

It's always good to watch you-tube videos of the walking tours of the different hotels - gives a great idea of what the resort is like and if you'll like it. ::yes::

Thank you! I actually called today and they were able to switch us to POR no problem
Glad to hear it worked out. If pool time is part of the trip you can also use the pool area at POFQ. They put in a childrens' splash pool area last year. Plus the boat to DS is an added bonus. We stay at POFQ but POR would be our next choice in the moderate category. If you have a chance checkout www.portorleans.org for a good overview of both POR and POFQ.

Honestly... you are really being more judgmental then helpful.

Yes thank you the lady I spoke to did do that! She originally was going to book us in ajoining rooms but then found out Disney has a policy that they won't do more than 2 adults for those rooms and they are for families with more kids. I'm still happy with the results
You are going to love POR. You will be comfortable there, and the whole resort is just so very beautiful. Enjoy!

Well to be fair you posted on a discussion forum. You will get all sorts of responses and not everyone will agree with your opinion...

And I would say that you are being judgemental. Your first post you said:

We are heading down to stay at Art of Animation next Friday for a week. We are traveling with my parents and our 3 kids, one of which is an infant. We have booked a family suite because they say it sleeps 6 adults but now were getting worried about the quality of the hotel since we've found its actually a budget hotel. Can we switch to a different resort and just book 2 rooms? I guess I'm not as worried about the sleeping arrangements as I ask that we are going to be disappointed with the resort. Any feed back as far as the quality?

You had a family suite booked but suddenly a week or so before your trip you're concerned because the place was 'budget'....so yeah I was commenting about that. I completely understand watching youtube videos combined with the pictures and second-guessing your level of interest in the resort;that part I get. It was the focus on the 'budget' category I didn't and why all of a sudden. That just striked an odd chord. It seemed you were basing your disinterest in AoA on the fact that it was 'budget' as you said you were not worried about the sleeping arrangements.

I get not liking the resort based on the theme of it, the location of it, the size of the rooms, the sleeping arrangements, etc (which you didn't actually mention were why you might be disappointed with AoA). But it was the sudden concern for the resort category that I was responding to.

I can understand being in cramped quarters and the sleeping arrangements which is why I said:

As far as cramped quarters I think you might find that depending on how you prefer your sleeping arrangements. But really it may not be bad at all and you could find all that worry for nothing.

*In the end you got your switch to a resort that better suited your desires which is great*

Kaitlyn, definetly check out the link mentioned here, it is an excellent site. And for questions, the guy who runs it hangs out on the POR thread under resorts here, plus that is a great thread.
Thank you for being so helpful!!
