Hi Fellow Cruisers! I was about to reserve our pre-night at the Radisson at the Port and now I'm nervous!!! If you visit Tripadvisor there are some RECENT horrible, horrible reviews. Dirty carpets, linens, horrid smells, etc. Is there anyone who has stayed recently and can put my fears to rest?

Also, do you have another hotel that you can recommend? I don't ask for too much, just CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN. :confused3

Thank you in advance!!!!!

We were just at Radisson at the port and it was as clean and as beautiful as ever. This is a great resort.

Last year there were some bad reviews here. The manager addressed them & advised of renevations that were to be done. So many DISers stay at the Radisson. I am sure that if there were problems you would find them if you did a search for the hotel. I don't recall any this year.

We have stayed at the Radisson and loved it. Very convenient to the Port. You are basically in and out most of the time because you are crusing anyways.

Before our cruise last August there were a lot of "bad reviews". We decided to stay there anyway. After staying there myself, I honestly did not see even one thing that would warrant a bad review. In my opinion, the place was very nice, and clean. This isn't to say that someone won't/can't have a bad experience there or anyplace else, but it was not what we experienced.

We plan on staying there again next year before our cruise, so as long as it stays the way it was last year, I will be happy :)

We have stayed there several times and always had a good experience...we had both regular rooms and the suites.

If you happen to get a room with what some of the reviews mentioned, I would bet that it is the exception, not the rule. Speak to management about it if it does happen.

Here are some links to pics of the suites....they were very nice and roomy.

Thank you so much for the reassuring 'reviews' ! I just booked the room !!!!
I just recently found the Dis Boards and I am so thrilled to be a part of a great group of people. :flower:

We stayed there last November....Let's just say...WE WILL NEVER STAY THERE AGAIN! We had one of the Suites....with the living room and the 2 king beds... When we got there...late at night, We found the room to look ok when we first opened the door. We later discovered...some up...a few white puddles on the floor in the bedroom... :scared1: (which I do have pictures of) We also found some "marks" in the bed spread too. The bathroom seemed cleaned. THere wre hairs in the Jacuzzi tub...NOT FROM US...and the shower really stunk bad. To make the story short...we slept with our clothes on long pants and sweatshirts...and didn't shower the next morning...becuase of the horrible smell coming from the shower :crazy2:

I did call the front desk, and that was only room they had when we were there. The next moring walking to McDonalds, we saw a bunch of plumbers in our section of the buliding...so that is probably what make the shower stink! :sad2:

I did email the company when I got home, but never got a reply back from them.

I would not stay there if you want a clean room. I know tons of people stay there from these boards, but my family experienced a poorly managed hotel.

Sorry for the bad news...Have a great vacation.

Travis

We stayed there in "04" the night before out first cruise and we more than likey won't stay there again. BUT, be reassured that it wasn't from anything that some other board members posted in this thread. When we cruised this past May, we stayed at Ron Jon's which is just as convenient and we liked it SO much better.

For us, it was just a matter of preference and we will be staying at Ron Jon's again next year and hopefully in the years to come as we continue to be able to cruise! I personally would recommend Ron Jon's Caribe Resort over the Raddison..again...just personal preference. :sunny:

i work at a hospital and even i know things do not get cleaned to my standards even there...what my friends do when they travel if there is a room hot tub involved is take some bleach and pour it in really hot water then run the jets for about 15 minutes...that should make it super clean!

Since we have our own whirlpool tub at home we probaly won't even use the one in our room...esp since my mom will be with us! :flower:

I am planning on staying there in October 2005 and most of the reviews I have read here have been positive with a couple bad ones but things happen and all hotels can have a problems from time to time with poor cleaning staff or plumbing problems...i think if the hotel was really bad it would not get such good reviews on these boards...

Anyone and I mean anyone that has a problem at the Radisson can call the general manager Joe P. and I can assure you he will take steps to correct problems - I can tell you this, he is the only one besides the Holiday Inn that I can contact, give them the problem, and it will be taken care of ASAP.
My sons stayed there several weeks ago (they paid the same as everyone else) and they were thrilled with not only the service, but the presentation of their rooms and no Joe P. or anyone else knew they were mine but I did write him and told him - he was please that I took the time to write him - also Gus Grissom's family stay there every January when they come down for the Apollo One memorial week - I can also add that a number of the families from Discovery stayed there for the shuttle launch this past week.
Norm and I stayed at the Radisson while in Key West several days ago and I am always pleased with them - I would be the first to step up to the plate and complain if I had any problems - Any of those that had have a problem in the past, do me a favor, drop me a note at snelsonbrown@aol.com and I will forward them to Joe.
Hope that this will help and please know I do not get anything in return for my feelings cause I have had to post when something happens here that I am displeased about.
I am NOT Dave from Marietta and could never be compared to what he has added to these boards, but Dave and I worked together on somethings that were going on here so he could add it or substract it from his web-site - now that Dave is super busy, I am still here being the police-woman :teeth:
Blessings always
Shirley and Norm

Shirley is right..if anything at all is wrong with the rooms, they fix it faster than you can blink an eye.

We have stayed three times..and one time..the AC was not working in the room when we checked in. We called front desk, and within 2 minutes, yes two minutes both the manager and maintenance guy were at the door. We couldn't believe it. They fixed it, we headed out for lunch at Grills and we had a nice cool room before we got back.

The maintenance guy also followed up with us later that day to make sure all was well.

I used to be a head housekeeper at a resort, so I check things over..lol. I crack my hubby up, but I know how clean a room should be, and I am picky.

Stayed there in Dec 04 - room was clean and smelled fine - service and pool were okay too...my issue was the bugs ---ANTS ANTS and more ants all
over the place- by the phone the sinks the tv and bathroom - I called they sent someone to spray but that was it and it didn't solve the problem.
I don't know how common that issue is especially during that time of the year.
but we stayed in one room b4 our cruise and a totally different room after and both had the same issue....I may look else where for next years cruise.

We have never had a problem with the rooms. Last year when I checked in they made one mistake at check-in. It had to do with charging while there. She found to link my credit card to our room. So I had to go and handle that. They were wonderful and gave my party all free breakfast for the mistake. We have always enjoyed staying there.

I would like to try Ron Jon's one day though. But I have heard they do not have a shuttle. Is this true? Do you have to pay for a shuttle? When can you get to the port?

Remember the Country Inn & Suites will be opening if on schedule in December. It is beside of the Rad ( I think).

We were there quite a while ago (a year and a half already!) but I wasn't impressed. Doing it over again, I'd stay at a WDW resort the night before where I have some idea that the room is pretty likely to be clean, and we feel like we are at a resort. The restaurants can't handle the traffic, there was a "party cruise" element I wasn't comfortable with hanging by the pool (well, I was comfortable, but I didn't really want my kids exposed to that much drinking and swearing and PDA - they were oblivious however). I also didn't like the room overlooking the highway (with all the traffic noise) and rather industrial buildings.

(By the way, our room was clean, that wasn't a problem. I just wasn't impressed)

I just got off the phone with Country Inn and Suites it is due to open late December. There is no restaurant on site and there will not be a shuttle for at least a couple of months. The rate for January is $109.00.

But they will have a shuttle, right? Next cruise we take out of PC I might head over to Ron Jon's and check it out.

You can request a certain area or room. Our first time we stayed there we just got lucky our room was fairly close to the pool. The next time I requested a poolview or as close to the pool as possible.

Sure you can, but when the resort is booked solid, what is available is what you get.

What great pictures, Webshots is an amazing site. Thanks for sharing. I didn't know that the drink station on deck 9 isn't self serve. That must be a pain in the butt when it's busy?

Thanks again.
