Worried about Nemo

We are going to be at DLR the week of Christmas. I know it is going to be god awful, bone crushing crowded, but we are determined to make the most of what we have!!! I am a little worried about how to fit Nemo into the day. My DS 5 is a huge Nemo fan, so the ride is a must do for us. I was planning to ride it first on one of our Magic Mornings, but after reading some more info today...it sounds like it would be a waste of most of that precious hour to get that ride in. Is there any other time that is feasible to fit it in, or is Magic Morning really the best option?

I would think any day at rope drop is the only option, but I wouldn't waste magic morning on it. Use MM to get most of Fantasyland rides, and on a non-MM day go to Nemo first. Just make sure to get to the gates at lest 45 minutes prior to opening to get a good spot on main st before rope drop.

Good luck, we really enjoyed that ride

If you are staying til the park closes, it's also a great time to get in line 10 to 15 minutes before closing. I think the park will stay open until midnight, so I don't know if you'll have your DS stay up that late.

We like to do it last. We get in line about 11:30 and wait then. I don't know if your DS can stay up that late but if he can then that's what I would do. :) Also, there is a viewing room for handicapped people who can't go up and down the stairs. If your DS simply can't wait, take him to the front of the line and ask the CM where the viewing room is. It's the exact same ride, just no subs. :)

Since you have more than one, just use an MM for Nemo. We did that last year...did one MM in Fantasyland, and another on Nemo. We were in line, on the ride, and out inside half an hour.

But really, know that the wait time on the sign is overestimated, and the line is pleasant, open, and fast-moving. And if the 5 year old has a stroller, you can take the stroller in line with you (the only line for that!) and right before you go into the "building" they'll take it and valet park it for you. :)

This is exactly my advice. If you are in line when the park closes, you will ride. Yes, there will be a line, but you won't feel like you are "wasting time" standing in it.

Otherwise, make it lunch. Everyone gets in line. 1 person goes and gets lunch for everyone. Eat (and enjoy each others company) while you wait.

We found the line was shorter at night then right in the morning (at rope drop). I think it's also better at night.

we lined up about 11:30 at night, I thought the wait would be OK because it was our 1st day at DL ( we were very excited) and the evening was cooler than the heat of the day. The wait went by fast.:santa:

Is this ride very similar to The Seas at Epcot?

I had no idea it was so popular that getting on it is so hard! It's good to know!

I personally like Nemo during the day because you see the natural light shining through the water. From what I have heard, it is a good idea to get there during rope drop and deck it for Nemo right away !

Not just disabled, but if you're claustrophobic - and don't we all have a touch (ever had an MRI?) - then you're perfectly justified in asking to use the Marine Observation Outpost (MOO).

I was just thinking about wait times on Nemo and came to the DISboards to ask the question. And what to my wondering eyes did appear? A thread on this very subject!

We were at DLR last November and the wait times for Nemo during the day could reach 2 hours. We did Nemo at rope drop one morning and were off the ride in 40 minutes. Does anyone know what the wait times are like during the day now? I just assumed that they would have settled down since last year, but if I'm wrong I guess I have to plan another rope drop day just for Nemo.

We are going Dec. 6-12.

The one morning we went to Nemo right at rope drop it was an hour wait. By the time we got off of the ride it was down to 40 minutes (this was a Tuesday in September and it was HOT). We got in line at 10pm one night (Sunday I think) and it was only a 35 minute wait. I liked the ride better after dark because you couldn't see the surface of the water as much so it felt more like you were in a submarine.

The major differences are in ride vehicle (Clamshells vs. Subs), and the fact that The Seas has actual fish in it, wherein the subs do not.

There are also a few ride scenes that one has that the other doesn't, but other than that, they are fairly similar with regards to the content of the ride.

I don't know if it was a slow day or not, but we made it through the line in 20 minutes the afternoon of October 30.

We had planned to save it for one of our Magic Mornings, then we saw that the wait line was supposedly only 25 minutes on the wait time board. We just looked at each other and ran... excuse me, walked off briskly. ;)

I think the best thing to do is to ride it first thing in the morning right after the rope drops. Once Nemo hits its' stride, the line rarely becomes around 30-45 mintues. Given the times you're going to be there, I would wait to try until Monday or Tuesday since the Candlelight Processional is going to draw some large crowds to the park.
