Worried about my hotel choice- can I get something better?

I've read some bad reviews about the Grosvenor hotel. I have it booked for 7 nights, Nov13-20.
They have us in a garden room, to move to a tower room will be like 400 more for the week.
Is there a good chance I can get it upgraded?

I've read not so good things about the garden rooms. She said ours has a pool view?!?

I see people are getting great rates w/bidding sites but I dont have a credit card. Do i have a chance of getting a great hotel w/out one?

This hotel is ok, but don't expect to much out of this place, it's more like a run down Holiday Inn stuck in the middle of everything. But it's ok for the price.

I disagree with kcarp, but we stayed in the Tower Rooms just 2 weeks ago, not the Courtyard/Garden.

Did you book directly through the hotel website??? They have a tower special including Ultimate Park Hoppers for the length of your stay.

We have nothing but great things to say about the hotel and the customer service there and I've stayed in some really nice hotels during my travels. Someone could possibly be disappointed if they are expecting the Ritz Carlton with Characters showing up at your door to escort you to the bus though...:p

Please email me if you have specific questions that I can help with- I'd be glad to do that....

We really enjoyed this hotel's location. It is just across the street from DD! We did not have a tower room. We were in what they called a "courtyard" room with a pool view on the third floor. The room was large, well appointed with a refrigerator, and the service was excellent. I'm not sure what a garden room is, but you can call and ask.

I met some friends their last June, and I didn't see much improvement since the last time I stayed there. Hey pammy1027
where else have you stayed in Disney? I was comparing it to other Hotels, and yes they don't roll out the red carpet for you. You get what you pay for.

I have personally only stayed at the Grosvnor at Disney, but my SO has stayed at CBR, and the Swan in previous trips. Maybe us being adults only travellors now makes a difference as to what we like, too. I have stayed at hotels all over the world from 2 stars to 5 stars and I was very happy with our Grosvnor experience. Then again, having the tower rooms may change the entire experience for anyone. We were on the 16th floor and the room, food, and service were about 3 1/2 to 4 stars- much better than any Holiday Inn I've stayed at. Some of the folks we travelled with on the bus rides had stayed at other DTD hotels and Official Resorts and preferred their stay at the Grovsnor as well.

Location to DTD is one of the big reasons we'd stay there again, but we definitely were pleasantly surprised at how they exceeded our expectations during our stay.

PS- I don't even think I can spell the Hotel name right ;)

I think this may be a good place for us to start- and start saving for a Disney resort next trip (yeah, i'm planning next one and first one isnt until NOV! )

I've never been to disney and seriously not stayed in anything nicer than a holiday inn..probably less hotels then you can count on both hands in my lifetime. It doesnt take much to impress me, no bugs and no funky smells will suit me fine!

priceline needs a credit card

however

does not you are dealing with an owner or in some cases a realtor.

I think you can send them a check or use your check id for the $10 fee.

You might also try to work out something

I've stayed at the Grosvenor, Dec. 2002 and we really enjoyed it. Its not a deluxe hotel but we got such a great rate (promotional rate for DreamRes was $39 per night, couldn't resist it!). The room was large with a refrigerator in it, the walls looked a little worn but they always kept it clean. The bathroom was a nice size also. Being in the tower room might have made a difference, the view was wonderful. I would say its a notch or 2 above a Holiday Inn but the location is its best feature. You are literally 5 min. walk away from DTD (and that's with my Mom which had to walk very slowly). The staff was very helpful and we had no problems with the buses (actually I liked their buses better than the Disney buses, they were certainly more comfortable, you just have to keep track of the schedule but they run often enough!). It is one of the last pick up and drop offs but we (my 70yo Mom and I) never had a problem getting a seat. We went the middle week in Dec. and it was perfect time to go, we got to see the decorations and everything and left just before Xmas. We had a tower room also, DreamRes assured us they only book those rooms, you should inquire with them, they are sponsors of these boards. Good luck.
