Worried about Ivan now too!

I don't mind the rant... funny you used the words gloom & doom. My son wants us now to take down the boards off of the windows. The other day he wanted them to stay up so he didn't have to put them back up in the event of Ivan heading towards us, now he says the house is too dark & gloomy with them up & wants them off. My husband says the house is depressing with the boards up. I think if I leave them up, Ivan wil turn away. If I take them down, Ivan will come & they will have to go back up! It is my way of being "stupidstitious" never did believe in superstitious. ::yes:: I trully can understand everyone's delima about not knowing what to do. If you cancel, it may not hit, if you don't, it may. It is a gamble. I do think I would wait until the very last minute that you can without being charged a cancelation fee to make up your mind.
Sharon,
I was laughing when I read your post, I'm thinking the same way, leave em up and Ivan will go away.

Too funny Sharon!
Keeps the boards up if you think it will bring sunshine.

I have been watching what is going on in Florida for days! I can't imagine actually being there like you all have been!

I am leaning towards waiting...atleast for tonight! lol

It would be better, in a sense, for the airlines to cancel the flight.

But that means 3 more days of watching the weather channel! lol

I just feel soooo bad for everyone in Florida. I know that they may be use to these weather patterns...but its time they had a break!!!!

I'll be waiting some more;) :sunny:

Doing the same thing here in Ft Lauderdale. Thinking if we are prepared he won't hit. But Ivan is a lot further south than Fran was. I still stress not every hurricane hits FL. I remember in '79 we thought Hurricane David was going to hit, he cruised by the Keys and hit Texas. You never know.

this will show you his path.

Instead of Ivan turn right. I think it could be Ivan stay south.
Still keeping my ressies for next Monday

We had to cancel this weekend's trip to POFQ due to the hurricane, and like Magic in my heart said, it was alot easier for us because we had a room only reservation. And just with that we were very disappointed. I can't imagine if we were coming rom out of state and had plane tickets to worry about.
I pray Ivan will stay away. All storms for that matter - because we are supposed to be heading to WL next weekend for my birthday. It doesn't look good. Even if it doesn't hit, we usually get residual rain and for me walking around in the rain is not fun.
As for Frances, today is much worse than yesterday was for us. Our dining room and living room carpet is soaked. Our fence was blown down completely. Luckily we still have power. 6 million floridians are without any power at all right now.

Did you cancel or did you modify? I heard if you modify you won't lose your deposit. Not sure if thats true. Just trying to find out.

Hi everyone! I don't want to get your hopes up BUT our weather guy on the 11:00pm news in NC said that the guys who fly through the hurricane went through Ivan and just reported that it had a "more eastrly track" and would possibly not hit Florida at all!!!!!!!:bounce: Hope it comes true!!!

Interesting as I was just watching the 11pm edition of the Weather Channel and the National Hurricane Center is saying it is way too soon to know what Ivan is going to do but it is tracking at this point very similar to Charley.

Not wanting to get hopes up either, but the Weather Channel doesn't seem to have updated their maps with the 11pm projections yet. I just noticed that they were using older tracking maps than the newest ones on the internet and reporting the same story about Ivan that they were hours ago.

I hope that Ivan either burns out at sea or at least steers clear of FL, the poor Floridians have had too much already.

According to accuweather.com, no storm that has been within 100 miles of Ivan's path has ever hit Florida. This does not mean that it will not, but hopefully history repeats itself.

We are going to WDW from 9/25- 10/2 and hope to stay dry (or at least reasonably so).

This track would take it right into the Gulf, how would that be better?

"Actually best thing would be if Ivan would just dissipate and not affect anyone."

We live in Collier County (Naples, FL) my mom heard this morning on our local news Ivan suppose to hit us. How they know I don't know it is way to early to tell but we are preparing already just in case. With each storm I find more I should of gotten it's that way again so this week I will be out buying more stuff for our luck will run out one day. The last 2 missed us.

Im still hoping it will just disapate!! GO AWAY IVAN!!!!!!!!!

I can not tell you all how much I need this trip!!!!
I think Ill do like you guys said keep up the shutters and hope it keeps the storm away!!!

Im so hungry Im soooo sick onf canned spaggetti and peanut butter and jelly!! YUCK!!

I'm no weather person, but it seems more likely that Florida will get some rain but not a direct hit. Ivan is just reaching the Lesser Antilles which historically has been a huge speed bump for hurricanes. We'll have a much better idea in the next couple of days.

I live in Louisiana and think we here are more likely to get hit by Ivan. Hope everyone gets to go on their WDW vacation!:D

I live in Florida and after just going thru our 2nd storm in 3 weeks. I think the media here is doing a great job of keeping people informed. What you don't understand is Florida has had alot of close calls in the past, and people do not take things serious enough. So the media has to do what it does to get these people to get moving to safety. I noticed a big difference between how people reacted to Frances after Charley. You can't mess with Mother Nature. You never know what she is going to do.

We had to cancel last weekend and reschedule. I really don't want to cancel this weekend. We won't get our money back this time. I should have just taken my deposit back when I had the chance. We are supposed to leave Thurs afternoon (from SE florida) and come back sunday. so far , we are planning on going. If we have to come back early...does anyone have the latest info?

I just swam in to work here in Atlanta Georgia. Frances is making quite a mess here with high winds and downpours. It is nothing compared to what you Floridians have gone through. We had downed trees and no power at my house, but we are lucky. I am so sorry and saddened for what Florida residents have endured with these two storms. Just adding my input, STAY AWAY IVAN!!

Denise

I am sure if the Hurricane hits FL again they will have liberal cancellation policies. Wait until it gets closer.

Dan, could you post a link to the site where we can see those maps? I've been to the noaa site, and either I haven't looked in the right place, or this is from something else. I would love to be able to follow the models like that. Thanks Dan!
