Worried about honeymoon

ok, I have to say something in this thread because I just love DisneyWorld so much, I hate to hear people bashing it. I'm 30 and have been going since I was 10 and just love the place.. I'm trying to get my fiance to convert into a disney lover as well...

so let me start by saying DisneyWorld pretty much has everything you could ever want to do there. Amusement parks, beaches, horseback riding, golf, spas, gyms, water parks, putt putt, fabulous restaurants, great shopping, it goes on and on...

as far as romance goes.... try eating in cinderellas castle for dinner... or at downtown disney go behind the house of blues (it's usually really quiet back there) and relax on a bench next to the water ... you could take a horse drawn carriage ride at the Port Orleans Riverside resort (we're doing that!)... you can watch the fireworks from the beach or a restaurant.. you can relax by the pool or get in the hot tubs.. get a couples massage... find quiet spots in the park and snuggle and kiss ... have candy and champagne delivered to your room .. if you want more ideas email me and I'll think of some more for you! I used to live in orlando and worked at disney... OH! I love going to the france pavillion in epcot as soon as they open up.. it's usually quiet around that time.. and getting some pastry and coffee for breakfast and it feels so romantic.. like you're really in france. haha.

you're going to have a great time!! I hope you come back here and let us all know how it went and how much you love disneyworld when you get back! :cloud9:

We will be at the WL close to Christmas, too! We will be there from the 13th-21st. I have heard it's really beautiful that time of year.

hey, we'll be eating breakfast at WCC on the 19th - does that count??!! :rotfl:

I'm really looking forward to seeing WL all decorated for Christmas. my DF and I were there for Valentine's Day 06 and it was fantastic then!

I am not getting married in Disney, but we will be honeymooning there! We get married on Saturday, October 18, 2008, and will be leaving for our Disneymoon on Monday, October 20, 2008. Not sure how long we are staying yet. Probably 7 or 8 days. I absolutely LOVE Disney! I am trying to convert my FI, he is halfway there! He has only been there twice though, I have been there several times! There was no question about where we would go for our honeymoon! We are definately not the type to sit around on a beach all day & all week, drinking cocktails, and doing whatever else goes on at an Island! LOTS of people bash our honeymoon, even friends and family do it. Then again, those that do the bashing have never even been there before. They just don't know what they are missing! For our Disneymoon we are doing things slow paced this trip. Usually we get up at the crack of dawn & hurry to the parks. This trip we are taking our time. Doing different things. Doing the dining plan so we can enjoy the different restaruants. Taking a carriage ride. Maybe do a tour. I am going to surprise my FI (Husband then!) while we are there with something from Gifts of a Lifetime! We aren't staying anywhere really expensive either. I have always stayed at CBR and that is where we are staying! I love it there! Anyway. Sorry this is so long! Don't let anyone bash your honeymoon. It is for you, not them! :bride:

I'm sorry to hear about all the Disney bashing that was going on over at the Knot. I have to admit my family is addicted to Disney and we have gotten harassed about our trips for years. Needless to say there are some naysayers about us having our wedding at WDW, so I outlined tons of things to do outside the theme park in my recent wedding newsletter. If you want to check it out here are the links to the different pages. It isn't specific for honeymoons, but it shows a lot of the great things to do outside the parks. You should be able to zoom in on the images to read them.

Here was a pretty good article on about that talks about romantic things at WDW too. Nothing that spectacular, but it has a few ideas. Sorry to bombard you with all the reading materials :goodvibes

a lot of people like to share their opinions on how disney isnt a good place to go for your honeymoon because there is little "alone time." but i'm not really worried about that- i get to be a kid again, before going back to louisiana with my husband and starting THE REAL WORLD. lol~ it's something WE wanted to do, and i understand how you might be concerned that people are always talking DOWN on the honeymoons in disney, but i'll be there, too!! :):)

Awesome! maybe we'll run into each other! I can't wait, I've seen pictures of the lodge at Christmas and it looks amaaaazing. Have you made your reservation or room requests yet? I'm trying to decide what kind of room/where I want...MK side or courtyard view...I know we want a king bed, but I've read theres not alot that aren't disabled rooms.

Hey, maybe we will! We have made our reservations and room requests. We reserved a woods view room. It would be pretty awesome if we got upgraded to a courtyard view, though! We requested a kind bed, too. I hope they come through on that, but I think you're right, they don't have a lot of rooms with king beds. Maybe we'll both be lucky! :)

Haha... that definitely counts!!! I just checked my itenerary to see if that's the day we're eating breakfast at WCC, but it's not... we'll be at MGM that day. WCC seems like so much fun. Have you been before?

I am SO excited to see all of the Christmas decorations! I think that'll be the best part!

OMG!!! Let me just repeat something that many have already said --- Disney is a great place to have go for your Disneymoon! We did and we had a BLAST!!!!

If you haven't already figured out by the many posts on this board, the Knot boards are filled with a lot of snotty, catty women (yes, there are ladies out there that are nice but they seemed few and far between).

Another suggestion - dinner at the California Grill with you reservation about 10-15 minutes before the start of Wishes. It's an amazing view of the fireworks and they pipe the music in. Also, just make sure it's on all of your ADRs. You may get a little pixie dust throughout the trip because of it. I say *may* because some restuarants did something special for dessert or had some pixie dust on the table.

I know how you feel! I will be getting married here in Tennessee on July 14 and we are off to DW for our honeymoon. We have gotten a lot of mixed responses too. I have only been to Disney once (last summer) and I just fell in love with it. We are staying off property, but I think we will still have a lot of fun. We are not the over-the-top romantic couple. We love to have fun together and what better place than DW? As long as you are happy with your choice that is all that matters. I know you will have a wonderful honeymoon.

When it comes to other people's opinion, to each their own. We're getting married her in Chicago and then flying to WDW the very next day. I don't know what I am more excited about: the wedding or the Disneymoon!
I've only been to WDW with my family, but I can see it being a very romantic place. Especially the resorts. There is also so much to do. Sure, some people just want to lay around on a beach for a week and do nothing...I'd rather be riding the rides and meeting Mickey Mouse! I know that may sound immature, but oh well...I'm a kid at heart!
What I'm trying to say is, there's so much to do at WDW, you will NEVER get bored. Yes, there are kids. Yes, there are lines. Yes, some people may think it's a "bad" honeymoon spot. I think it's a wonderful place though, and it has lots of romantic opportunities ;)

I'm a Knottie, though not a constant one and I'm doing a Disneymoon after I get married on 7/7/07. I haven't had anyone tell me it's too childish. Everyone's saying, "how cool", "you'll have fun" and the like. I haven't been since I was in 3rd grade and my fiancee wanted Disney more than anything. So I think it's whatever you make of it.

Now me and my hunny are going to Sandals for our HM because we want an adults only atmosphere. But, let me tell you something: I went to Disney for the first time in December and it was just me and DF and his family. We had a blast!!! And I'm 26 yrs old!!!! I'm into Disney now more than ever!!!!:goodvibes

Wherever you go for your HM, you have to make it special!!! I'm a roller coaster freak and Universal is literally about 10-15 min away(depends on what resort you're staying at and the traffic)from WDW!!! So, there's soooo muchy to do down there. TRUST and BELIEVE me, you'll have fun!!! :thumbsup2

Me and my fiance have gone to Disney World 3 times in the last 4 years, and when it came time to decide on our honeymoon spot, I was all for doing something different and more "special", so we booked the Sandals in the Bahamas. But then we started thinking, and we shortened out Sandals stay to 5 nights and added 4 nights at the Animal Kingdom Lodge! Disney is way too much fun and special for us not to go on our Honeymoon!

:goodvibes
