Worried about honeymoon

I guess I'm honestly just looking for reassurance so I thought this would be a good place to come! It seems like it is mostly just Disney brides on here and not just disneymooners, but we are only going for our HM. I'm on the Knot forums a lot and it just seems like everytime Disney is mentioned for a HM it gets bashed or just kind of blah opinions. Other people have told us, "well that's not the kind of place to go for a honeymoon" and "nobody likes Disneyworld over the age of 12". "that's not romantic" etc, etc. I've never been and my fiance went when he was 7. We're not really content just laying around on a beach so we thought it would be something fun. Now I'm second guessing that we should have gone to Jamaica or something!:sad2:

There is so much to do at Disneyworld. Go to the Disneyworld website and you can look at the section "for adult or romantic" I forget what it says. There is so many restaraunts, spa treatments, Pleasure Island, concerts at House of Blues. That is totally rediculous that no one over 12 loves Disney. Sometimes those brides need to keep their opinions to themselves. I promise there will be so many great things to do. What resort are you staying at?

We splurged and are staying at the Polynesian. We like rides too, so people have also said "well if you're going somewhere like that you should have gone to Universal Studios.

Are you kidding me? I'm so excited for my Disneymoon! I've done Disney as a child, a teen, and a mom...but never just as a grown up...Disney has so many levels that regardless of what you are looking to get from it...it's there! I know that we are going to have a romantic and adult experience AND we are going to have fun!! Disney is what you make of it! We can't wait to go!

My advice is ignore them! The Poly is gorgeous. You can go on walks on the beach. Watch fireworks from the beach. Ohana's, water sports. Honestly I would just go and have a great honeymoon. Don't worry about other people.

I'm Disneymooning too... Just a note, take things that people say on theknot with a grain of salt. I have an acct on there too and they have a lot of useful information.. But ultimately its your honeymoon and you should go where you want. :)

While Universal is fun, it hardly has the romance that Disney does. The Polynesian is great...and there's nothing saying you couldn't head to universal for the day and take in some coasters! (We love Universal but Disney is where it's at for our honeymoon!)

thanks ladies! I know in my heart that we'll have a good time, but it just gets so discouraging hearing all of the time that our HM will suck! I'm just so excited to 1)get married and 2)go to Disneyworld for the first time EVER!
And yeah...theknot can definitely be VERY obnoxious! Everyone is always so nice on here! Thanks again!

you know...for some reason that never occured to me! I guess it seemed like since we were going to Disneyworld we were stuck there the whole time lol! Maybe if we need a coaster fix we can go there.

Did you know that Disney World is one of the top picks for honeymoon destinations??? Everyone that goes there can't be wrong!!

There are people who love disney or who hate it. Those who hate it cannot, for the live of themselves, fathom why we like to go again and again and again!

Just ignore the naysayers and remember that this is YOUR honeymoon, not theirs. Their opinion really does not matter, nor does it effect your plans.

my DH and I went for the first time on our HM. Had a wonderful time and have been back many many times since with various members of our family. We our thinking about a VR for our 20th anniversary at WDW. Where you and your husband choose to spend your HM is your choice. Go and enjoy if thats what you want!

I never post on this board, but I wanted to let you know that you guys sound like my DH and I. Yes, we did honeymoon at Disney World 9 plus years ago. We also are not lay on the beach type people. I have to say WDW is a great place to honeymoon, you can do lots of fun stuff and still have romantic dinners and walks. We have been back 4 time since we honeymooned and have taken are kids with us twice. Each time we go, my DH will say something about home magical our honeymoon was. It truly was the trp that hooked him into a Disney fan!
Have fun and enjoy yourself.

S :)

Phooey on them!

There are tons of romantic things to do at WDW! I think it's the most romantic place on Earth! DH and I had the most romantic & magical evening on my birthday last week. We went to CA Grill and then watched the fireworks from the observation deck atop the Contemporary. The possibilities there are endless!

WDW is for every age! My great grandmother chose to go to WDW for her 99th birthday!

Anyone who doesn't like WDW is a stick in the mud (as my grandmother would say)!

most of the ladies on the knot are SO MEAN and so sad and depressed at their pathetic lives that they have to make fun of others. we had a HUGE problem with some of them a few motnhs ago coming on here and bashing...ug. anyway, i did not have a disne wedding, just a HM and talk on here ALL the time, and have "met" some of my closest friends on here! dont think just b/c you arent a dis bride you cant join the fun!

we honeymooned at the grand floridian in january and it was FABULOUS! DH had NEVER been, and i have successfully turned him intoa disney lover. i have also stayed at the Poly and that would be my second choice, you picked well! so dont worry about them, you will have SO much fun! my trip report link is in my signature if you want to read and see how much fun you can have! good luck!:goodvibes

Oh my gosh who cares what the knot sais..... You are going to have sooo muxh fun in Disney World..there is sooo much to do there and a lot of romantic things to do as well.

You could go on the disney cruise as well they have 3 and 4 night cruises that is what we are doing, we are staying 6 nights in disney then 4 nights on the cruise.

You will have a great time! After I inadvertently found a thread COMPLETELY BASHING ME on the knot, I never went to those forums again. I was so mad...how DARE they! Anyway, my advice is to ban the knot forums because they say hurtful things. Stay here with us and you are guaranteed to have a great honeymoon! :goodvibes :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

There's also a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff: we did several backstage tours on our Disneymoon (our favorite was the Segway tour, by the way). And a lot of the restaurants are to DIE FOR (just do your homework and check out the restaurant boards on DIS). Another great site is allears.net. Enjoy your honeymoon and welcome aboard!

alright, so I just have to chime in here! my fiance (49) and I (50) have had the opportunity to visit many places including St Thomas, Aruba, Mexico, California, Las Vegas, Canada and also Tahiti - and where are we spending our honeymoon??? you guessed it - DISNEY

truly, Disney brings out the magic for us . when he asked me to marry him, there was not even a discussion about where - and many people cannot get over how much we love it there. We visit an average of 2x a year for the past 3 years and there is still so much to do !! as other posters have already noted, you can do a mix and match of hotels or hotels & cruise.

remember - a place is only as romantic as the two of you make it
