Hi! We are driving for the first time from Nebraska next month. I heard that there are some Mountains in TN that will make your ears pop. My DS has bad sinus/ear troubles - that's why we are driving. Anyone have ear trouble that drives through this area? :confused3 How did you, or your kiddos do? I just don't want his ears to have trouble before the trip really starts down at Disney! We had planned to drive to St. Louis, down through Nashville then on to Atlanta to Orlando. There is a different route that would take us through MO, down to Memphis, to Dothan, AL - to Orlando. Should we consider this route instead? Thanks for any input fellow drivers!!!:goodvibes

You could try using Earplanes earplugs. They're designed to keep the pressure is your ears equalized during airplanes take off and landing, so I imagine they would work in the mountains. They have a childrens size, and you can get them at any large chain drugstore.

I didn't even think of those!! That is a great idea! Maybe an earplanes/motrin combo would work ok. I am just such a worry wort!! Thank you so much for the reply and for the info! :goodvibes

We went to those mountains in the Fall and my kids have sinus issues and they never any had thiers even pop. Our ENT said to give our kids some Zytrec to help with the fluid in the ears while we are flying so that might help you too!

DS is on alegra and nazonex. So happy to hear that you made it through with no troubles! I am hoping for the same thing here! Thanks for the info!!! It is greatly appreciated!:wizard:

I actually used my Ear planes on a recent trip up to the Grand Canyon. We ended up at an elevation of 7500 feet. I did notice my ears did pop/clear with the Ear planes in on the trip up those mountainous roads, but once we got there, my ears were fine. I'd never used them on a road trip before, but swear by them for flying. I find they help in keeping my sinuses clear, too.

Hi there! I would recommend the mountain route...it's MUCH more scenic, and the mountains aren't really that bad. Sure, my ears do pop a little, but not too badly. I actually live in SW Missouri, so we usually go this way, too. There are good roads all the way down to Disney.:thumbsup2
