Can someone tell me does this street have lots of traffic? I worry about the craziest things... so the latest is worrying about having to cross over Harbor... we are staying at HoJo's. So please tell me its not that bad!

There is a lot of traffic, but it's not FAST traffic, since there are several stoplights near the hotels. There are two places you can cross--both have crosswalks and lights. One is near HoJo's (so you would do the majority of the walk on the Disneyland side of the street) and the other is a larger crosswalk down a couple of blocks on the hotel side that goes right to the entrance area.

I wouldn't worry about it. :thumbsup2

You will be fine. We crossed it plenty of times when we stayed at the Hojo this past December. There is a cross walk right there (I believe the street is Manchester) and as long as you use the cross walk you'll be perfectly fine. :)

Don't forget there is a lot of foot traffic too. :) You won't be on your own.

Don't worry. It's not bad. Depending on what time you go to the park and what time you return there may not be any traffic at all.

And I have found that the lights at the crosswalk give plenty of time to get from one side to the other.

yep, you definitely won't be alone! there is a LOT of foot traffic and crossing harbor is no big deal. we've done it many times with our double stroller with no problems!

I agree with everyone else. Crossing at a crosswalk is VERY safe. You have lots of time!

My only precaution to you is, if you cross at the crosswalk near Hojo and walk down Harbor on the DL side, you are right next to the street and the cars seem REALLY close and really fast as they drive by - it kind of unnerves me and my kids.

SO we always stay on the Hojo side of Harbor and cross at the heavily used crosswalk in front of the DL entrance.

Jo thanks for clarifying this. Thats exactly what I need to know.

It's a lot safer then walking on the sidewalks on the Las Vegas strip.:rotfl2:

IMO it's awful to cross with everybody else at the main cross walk, just cross Harbor near HoJo ~ at Manchester, my 2 kids and I did this last Dec. at night all by ourselves and it was fine! Much much quicker too.

It really is fine..but we used to call it the 'dash of death'..

Crossing Harbor is always an interesting experience, but we've done it with a stroller and had no problems. There is usually a sea of people crossing with you!

In the morning, people are full of energy and excitement and seem to cross Harbor a little more aggressively. In the evenings, people are moving much slower!

Harbor has tons of traffic, both foot and vehicle. Cars, trucks, buses, shuttles....it's crazy but it's safe!! Seriously, it's very safe, the majority of drivers now what the deal is and they are careful. There are crosswalks no matter where you're crossing so you're safe. We always walk from HoJo and cross at Manchester walking on the opposite side of Harbor than everyone else, it's faster and just as safe. We've walked from the CCI and from Castle Inn and felt fine, heck DBF and I walked from the Peacock and we were totally fine. You'll be OK. :)

It is pretty busy, but as long as you use a cross walk your fine. Most of the time people are moving in mass from one side to the other so its never just you crossing the street. Its hard to miss a big mob crossing the street so you should be fine, Ive never seen or encountered a problem with it.

Yep. And even if you're at the back of the pack (if walking on the hotel side), you're still in a mob and the cars will wait.

Yes yes.

Some pix of the walk and sidewalks.

While we were crossing Harbor at Manchester, the crosswalk with Mimi's at our backs (note the signal that counts down your time...all of the area crosswalks that I've used have that nice countdown).

Here is the disneyland side, looking BACK towards HoJo.

Then I turned around, and found hubby and son running away from me, LOL (OK so they didn't know I'd stopped for the picture). And that's the view going *towards* the parks entrance.

On a different day we walked on the hotel side. HoJo/Mimi's is behind us, and this is pointing towards the way everyone else is walking.

Back in May they were having some construction on the disney side that sort of pushed out the sidewalk path a bit, but now it's gone, and it looks in those pix to be exactly the same distance from the cars as on either side. Main difference? On the hotel side you have driveways often and you're dealing with cars going in and out. On the disney side you have ONE driveway (you can see it just beyond hubby and son in that pic), and it's barely used as it's for employees and taxis.

Thanks for the info and the pictures. We are staying at the HOJO soon and I was curious about the walk.
