Worlds Largest McDonalds?

I heard that there is the worlds largest McDonalds in the WDW area. Is this true and if so where is it? Is it something worth seeing?

They use to say the one on International Drive was the largest. I don't know if that is still true. It has a really large crawl space for the kids. Last time I was there (a few years ago), I thought it was rather run down.

I was there just over one year ago, and wasn't too impressed with it. The menu has more than just the typical McDonalds fare, but the place seemed dirty, way too loud, and not much more than a glorified arcade. Been there, done that, not goin' back.

Actually, I thought that the biggest one is in Moscow, Russia and it is huge! It's usually empty though because a meal there is about the average monthly income for a Russian family.

About the only novelty that I can remember about McD's at DTD is that the ice machine or the soda machine has a sound track. It sounds like ice is going in a glass, followed by a liquid being poured.

I have actually been to the one in OK when we moved/drove from CA to MI. We stopped for an ice cream and a postcard. The buiding was huge but the actual McD's was small.

BTW, I love the #1 question that makes you crazy! My SIL had a chance to go with us on our upcoming trip with my MIL paying all her expenses. Free hotel, park tix, the works. She declined to go because she was too scared of the hurricanes. Yes, you read that right. I could not make this stuff up. Some people are just nuts.

A friend of mine was a manager at McDonald's in Orlando...and worked at a few of them. The largest one is (or was) in Orlando...not WDW. I was there a few years ago. She didn't work at that one at the time, but if I remember correctly, a friend of hers did.

Anyway...when she was working in Orlando, there were quite a few of the McDonald's which were considered "Gourmet McDonald's" which had some menu items which you would never expect to find at McDonald's. It wasn't just the "World's Largest" which had/has the expanded menu.

I should refer my friend to this thread now that she's joined the DIS. She'd know better than most of us about the place.

Well, I got curious and looked it up:

Well the more I look this question up the more answers I come up with.

I just found one that is 30,000 sq ft in Gurnee, IL. I have also found where the Mcy Ds on I-drive is the largest not the one in Disney. Also found they are quoting Bejing sq ft at 28,000. But the Moscow having the most seating at 700. But just under 28,000 sq ft.

Acouring to Mcy Ds media site the one in Bejing is the "WORLDS LARGEST" and they also have the "WORLDS LARGEST" KFC.

Unless they have cleaned up the one on International Drive, I would not recommend it! I was there 2 years ago and it was VERY dirty! I am a social worker in an low income area and have been to some nasty neighborhoods but usually McDonalds in those neighborhoods are respectable. The McDonalds on International Drive was by far the most run down, dirty McDonalds that I have ever been in. I felt McDonalds should be ashamed of that store.

No it is not worth going no matter where it is. It's just a McDonalds. But If you do go you will be hit up to see a time share.

If you are looking for a very nice McDonalds, the one on Sand Lake Road just west of I-4 is very, very nice. It serves a lot of different dishes other than the usual McDonalds' fare. On Sunday mornings, a chef fixes omlets to order. It serves Hagen Das ice cream. It is two stories with very ornate furnishings. Upstairs is a game room.

I think the one your talking about is the one I was looking for. I saw it once a long time ago on the Travel Channel. They said it was the biggest and since the one you mentioned is two story that must be it. Omelets to order, huh? Interesting...

That is sad, who wants to eat where it is dirty? We have one in Rowlett, Texas that is super dirty like that, too. And it is a nice area. Always dead bugs on the floor, the pottys are disgusting, the people that work there are rude and the place looks like it has not been cleaned in FORVER. eeeeeeeewwwwwww!!!!!

I believe it was on the travel channel. It does not have a children's play area, but some excellant food. When it first opened, Tiger Woods used to hang out there. Word must have gotten around, because I've never seen him there!

Both McDonalds on Sand Lake rd. have two floors. The one east of I-4 on International drive is supposed to be the world's largest playplace, this one is all about kids with an arcade and they serve pizza and other menu items geared to kids.It is however a madhouse.The one on Sandlake west of I-4 is geared to adults, it's real nice and serves items like panini sandwiches.

In the Travel Channel show it said these McDonalds are owned by the same franchisee who also has other ones in Orlando with different themes, I think there's a safari McDonalds and 2-3 other ones.

I've been there, and yes there are a ton of registers, and multiple floors of seating (at least 3 that I can remember). However, every single time I went there, the place was PACKED (not too hard to believe in Beijing!) so it seemed smaller than most other McDonalds I've been to.
