I loved the book. LOVED it. And I'm not even a big fan of zombies. In fact, they scare me so much I rarely enjoy anything with them in it. So I was...WAS...excited to hear that the book was being made into a movie (even despite their casting Brad Pitt in the lead). So imagine my complete dismay when I saw the trailer for the movie and it seems they have essentially just used the book's title, and NOT A DARN THING ELSE! This is not the World War Z I read. It's just another random zombie apocalypse movie.

Bummer.

Huge fan of World War Z also. I loved the interview with the woman who had to parachute down into the zombie infested countryside and survive. Hopefully the trailer was misleading, and just focusing on Pitt because he's the star.

The trailer does look pretty good, just doesn't look like World War Z.

Great book! Most people think they are going to blow the movie (IMDB, etc.)

they didnt even get the zombies right. the whole terror of them was the sheer number of slow moving moaning monsters. not a tsunami of cg.

I saw the movie preview too. I actually had to pause it to get a look at these zombies. They move so fast. Almost not-human fast. It just seemed a little strange to me.

Yea, it's a shame.

Maybe in 20 years they'll remake it and do a version closer to the book.

I just don't understand why they would pay for the movie rights for the book with no intention of making that story when they could have just made a zombie movie of their own? This movie isn't World War Z.

I haven't read the book but the trailer makes the movie look great. I would see it based on the trailer, and I'm really not a Brad Pitt fan.

Ok...how did I never, ever hear of this book as it sounds just like the type of thing I would love???? Since reading this thread I have downloaded both the Zombie handbook and World War Z. Can't wait to start reading them.

Yesterday after reading a thread I downloaded Le Mis to read. Can't wait to start that also!!! Would like to read them before I see the movies as the books are ALWAYS better!!!

I "read" the book first on an audio book, during a long car trip. It was so good that I had to drive past my mom's house and park down the street to listen to the last 20 minutes of the last CD. She would have never understood why I would sit out in the driveway and not come in..... The book covers so much, it would be hard to make it into a movie, I think. I'm really disappointed to hear that the movie doesn't follow the book at all.

My husband doesn't like movies where the zombies move fast. It's just not right, so he doesn't want to go see it. :rotfl:

Rotten Tomatoes has this movie at 67% critics and 86% public which is pretty good for this type of film.

We intend to see but I'll keep in mind that it's not like the book. I keep meaning to read the book.

Loved the movie. Hated the book. :)

Anyone ever read Forest Gump? Horrid. Movie was magical. It's the idea they buy.

Waiting on the audiobook from the library since I want to see this (is the audiobook any good)!

Saw the movie last night. I haven't read the book. I thought the movie was pretty good. Just a little different take on the old Zombie franchise.

I tried reading the book-only got halfway thru. I kept seeing the trailer and remarking that it looked nothing like what I read. (I'm thinking I may like the movie then :rotfl2:)
