World War II memorial opened today!

The official opening isn't till around Memorial Day but they opened it early because it's estimated 1,000 WWII veterens are dying everyday.

It's a really beautiful memorial, maybe someone can post some pics of it. Hint, hint, Dan.

America's World War II vets are dying at a rate of 1,056 a day, the Veterans Affairs Department estimates

DD28 (The Music Teacher) will be on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial on Thursday, May 20, with her Concert and Show Choirs and the Band. We look forward to visiting the WWII monument and taking the students there, also to the Vietnam Memorial - both very solumn places and more meaningful than ever, IMHO.

My daughter's class made boutonierres (sp?) for the veterans to wear for the official opening next month. I think it was a nationwide effort. Her group made about 120 of them. My dad and several uncles are all WWII vets, and I think it's about time they had their own memorial. I can't wait to visit it.

We drove by it when we were there with my dd's class earlier this month. Remarkable and, yes, it's about time!!!!
